Hi all, I'm 19 and have always loved mk1 Capri's, but seeing as i can't get insured on one at the moment I've decided to buy a mk1 Fiesta and was wondering how to go about knowing what to look for, I now a bit about cars, but not a huge amount about older 'classics'. If anyone can give me any pointers on what to look for when buying, it would be much appreciated

cheers :)

Welcome to OSF.

I'm not much up on Fiestas as I've never owned one but the mechanics and electrics (in common with other old Fords) are fairly simple and easily sorted with the average DIY tool kit. What you want to be looking for is rust, look closely in all the hidey holes, sills, arches, chassis members, strut tops, headlight surrounds, boot wells, heater bowl, floor pans etc. Basically anywhere where there's a chance for dirt and moisture to collect.
