Fletcherer Posted March 8, 2012 Report Posted March 8, 2012 Hi all, I'm 19 and have always loved mk1 Capri's, but seeing as i can't get insured on one at the moment I've decided to buy a mk1 Fiesta and was wondering how to go about knowing what to look for, I now a bit about cars, but not a huge amount about older 'classics'. If anyone can give me any pointers on what to look for when buying, it would be much appreciated cheers
Admin Vista Posted March 8, 2012 Admin Report Posted March 8, 2012 Welcome to OSF. I'm not much up on Fiestas as I've never owned one but the mechanics and electrics (in common with other old Fords) are fairly simple and easily sorted with the average DIY tool kit. What you want to be looking for is rust, look closely in all the hidey holes, sills, arches, chassis members, strut tops, headlight surrounds, boot wells, heater bowl, floor pans etc. Basically anywhere where there's a chance for dirt and moisture to collect.
lotusless Posted March 8, 2012 Report Posted March 8, 2012 Welcome to the site If you ask on the classic ford mag room i;'m sure those very nice chaps will sort you out with a buyers guide for a fiesta.
Fiesta Steve Posted March 8, 2012 Report Posted March 8, 2012 Welcome to OSF, listen to what Vista is saying, rust rust rust, everything is fairly easily fixed with spanners although in my experience they are very reliable cars
