frankthefencer Posted March 10, 2012 Report Posted March 10, 2012 When people put stripes on do they paint them on or sticker then lacquer over the top?? My car is at the paint shop and not sure whether to have painted stripes or vinyl then lacquered over the top. Your views appreciated!!
dacar Posted March 10, 2012 Report Posted March 10, 2012 Mines are stickers without the laquer and are fine.
frankthefencer Posted March 10, 2012 Author Report Posted March 10, 2012 We're the pin stripes on the car out of the factory lacquered over or put on after paint and left unlacquered??
Admin Vista Posted March 11, 2012 Admin Report Posted March 11, 2012 Vinyl and I wouldn't lacquer over the top of them either.
frankthefencer Posted March 12, 2012 Author Report Posted March 12, 2012 I thought if they were not lacquered over they would lift or be a pain when polishing?? Were they lacquered over when they left the factory??
James HPE Motorsport Posted March 12, 2012 Report Posted March 12, 2012 Frank, they will be fine unlaquered! The laquer may even damage the vinyl anyway! I doubt any escort from the factory way back when, had any laquer at all!!!
frankthefencer Posted March 13, 2012 Author Report Posted March 13, 2012 When you have gone this far with a project you just don't want to get it wrong!! I had my heart set on the stripes being painted on however this now might change. I suppose at least if they are on and unlacquered I can peel them off if I don't like them. I just thought that being stuck on the outside unlacquered you can feel them as they stick out slightly.
dacar Posted March 14, 2012 Report Posted March 14, 2012 Mines are from DMB graphics and have been spot on. No issues with polishing etc and only stick out 'baw hairs'.
