A new event in the west country happening in August this year is the Pentillie Festival of speed, a hill climb on the banks of the river Tamar.

Are there any west country members interested in having an OLD Skool Ford stand at this prestigious new event? They offer 6 or 12 car stand slots but personally I suspect the kind of clubs they're looking for are vintage and classic sports cars but under attractions they do say "Displays of vintage, classic, sports, retro and modern cars" so hey, it doesn't hurt to ask does it?

So, anyone interested?

Does look a good event, count me in  the fact that it's an msa hill climb,I think there will be more modern competitors and club stands so they should accommodate us

Ok that's three of us  It needs three more to be viable and for a 6 car stand would work out as about £9 per car inc two tickets.

Keep in mind though that you need a separate ticket for each day so that would only cover one person to enter if you were intending to attend both days

Anybody else up for this? It'd be great to have the whole Ford range of the day represented. I can muster two cars alongside Malcolms Cortina and Andy's Anglia. Anyone want to bring a mk1 carpi or granada to get the early models all seen?

Well, this didn't get enough interest for a club stand but is on this weekend. Is anyone going along and if so which day?

well malcolm you didnt miss much, after being raped for £12 entry then told it was another £3 for a program.

then had to walk through a mud pit across a field, they were completely unready for spectators. Places to view the track were limited and over crowded, the grandstand they set up was being charged another £15 to use. Spoke a friend of mine who was on the rescue unit and it was about how much money they could make.

A local pasty firm was ready to donate 150 free pasties for the officials and marshalls but told to go away as the catering was being done by the owners friend.

Even heard rumours that the MSA were having doubts that the venue was suitable or safe after about 10 cars all went off at same place. Another competitor slid on the grass all the way down a bank and into a parked trailer writing off his subaru.

Can safely say i will never visit this venue again let alone consider it as a viable event to compete on

I did go there but was advised against going in by one of the marshals because of the muddy conditions, as you said £12 is a lot of money to display your car! I went home again as I had a lot to do to the Cortina's!

Sounds like fate saved me from a wasted day, I went to get the van out to bring it up and found I'd left the battery isolator on before we went on holiday at the beginning of the month. Flat battery! Then Andy (marshalling) called me and said the place was a mud bog so I didn't bother.

Glad I stayed at home then. It's a shame really, as we could do with more events down this way. I know organising any event can be a nightmare especially any msa sanctioned one, I used to run road rallies for a club a few years ago. I hope the organising clubs can learn from it and not just right it off!

On a plus side, it makes Bocconnoc festival look more favourble

I see there's a fb page condemning the event already, which I feel is totally un justified. It seems everybody is against Motorsport these days without the so-called fans having a go as well :banghead:

The organisers do need to realise they need the public on side . Planning must consider spectators with easy access and viewing points etc otherwise people will not return!

Where's the FB page?

As I said above I didn't go so can't really comment but wonder how many of the issues are down to it being their first attempt at an organised motorsport event?

I think it's "pentillie festival of speed disaster"

I may have spelt that wrong :?

It's always hard putting on an event for the first time, and although it gets easier with further events even they can go pear shaped.
