willsy Posted April 19, 2012 Report Posted April 19, 2012 Forced to have a day off today due to a small accident yesterday. I'm soooooooo bored!!!!!!! I don't get people who don't want to go to work, I even feel guilty not being there. Was drilled into me by my parents when I was young that you must work Does anyone else ever feel like that?
fieldy1972 Posted April 19, 2012 Report Posted April 19, 2012 i do aswell. im not working today as i finished a job early. my old man drummed it into us about going out to work. i would hod carry and labour for him in the summer holidays . if i had a choice i would much rather earn my own money than sit on my ass at home and claim the dole.its a pride thing mate
GJUK Posted April 19, 2012 Report Posted April 19, 2012 Working from home is the best of both worlds.
willsy Posted April 19, 2012 Author Report Posted April 19, 2012 On the news this morning numbers for long term unemployed have risen! Wtf is wrong with these people? I'm sure some of them are in an unavoidable situations but I bet a majority are just lazy *********!!!!!!
Jiffer Posted April 19, 2012 Report Posted April 19, 2012 worked on a building site since i was 15, never been out of work, only recently I spend more time in an office running the show, can still remember from a very young age dad leaving real early and getting in late after all day on site, hes 69 now and still does a full week.
deltamal Posted April 19, 2012 Report Posted April 19, 2012 Still feel guilty not working 'overtime' on Saturday mornings, and it's been my own business for 22 years! had to have a lot of time at home last year with hip problems felt bad about that even though I was quoting and designing at home, due to retire in a couple of months but that wont happen! as said I think it's a work ethic drummed in by parents, and it was passed on to my son!

Fair play
GJUK Posted April 19, 2012 Report Posted April 19, 2012 I think it's all about balance. I'm not convinced it's that clever to work all hours god send you to stockpile money/objects. Money, family, spare time. Get it wrong and you end up with too much of one and not enough of the other. Work all your life, have loads of money, no friend and family that hate you. Don't work, have no money but a good solid family (who might stil have you lol) etc.
FBF Posted April 19, 2012 Report Posted April 19, 2012 Like others im no doss c@nt, it was bred in to me to be a grafter and pay my own way, never had a single day on the dole. But i would be happy enough watching jezza kyle everyday, eating buiscuits. Sadly our government makes it better to not work and just breed other dossers. Who can blame them all.
Admin Mk2Jo Posted April 19, 2012 Admin Report Posted April 19, 2012 I have had about 5 days off in the last 22 years Luckily I am not a sick person *searches for wood to touch* .... some people are genuinely more ill than others but for those lazy fookers that decide on a Monday morning that they had too many beers the night before and can't be aRSed to go into work, or those that just can't be bothered cos they want to watch Jeremy Kyle or whatever is on during daytime TV they should be shot! The reason you are off work has nothing to do with Darren's post about pranks you play on your workmates does it???
jayremedy Posted April 19, 2012 Report Posted April 19, 2012 I have a small business for now, things look bleak TBH. Working 5 days a week. The business is open 6 days but I take Saturdays off to do something with the missus, but I'm usually working Saturday evenings in a job I love so I don't count that. I have been unemployed before but never since the kids have been here and they're now 20 and 23yrs. I did read somewhere lately, I forget where that most successful people on their death beds wished they had not worked so hard and spent more time with family and friends, it's a toughie.
Posse Posted April 19, 2012 Report Posted April 19, 2012 Forced to have a day off today due to a small accident yesterday. Yep its all in the book
Yeomans22 Posted April 20, 2012 Report Posted April 20, 2012 i work 6am till 6pm monday to friday, also in tesco on a saturday morning, but think its time to stop saturdays as just working away my life
mk2 mike Posted April 21, 2012 Report Posted April 21, 2012 I get a lot of time off from work (around 5-6 weeks a year) and I always look forward to it when it's approaching, but normally by the fourth day I'm bored stupid and thinking about going back to work early.
russ105e Posted April 21, 2012 Report Posted April 21, 2012 I've worked at my dads garage since I was 12 and full time since I left school 25 years ago ! , very rarely have time off and feel guilty taking holidays . I've been off this week due to having an operation last Friday , bored beyond belief and want to go back on Monday but I'm not allowed . My old man is 71 on Monday and still does 5 days a week , gets there at 7am and usually the last to leave , when I was younger he used to do 12 hour days 7 days a week and recoveries in the night so he has calmed down a bit ! The younger guys at work just have a different work ethic and are more concerned about what they are entitled too rather than just getting on with the job
RossMK2 Posted April 22, 2012 Report Posted April 22, 2012 i couldn't be doing with sitting at home not working. i had to be off work a month ago and i felt quilty. shame there isn't many peolple my age (17. 16 when i started) with the same attitude.
5tox Posted April 22, 2012 Report Posted April 22, 2012 Totally agree with all the comments so far, I work in the public sector and have to take block leave rather than the odd day here and there which can be a week to 2 weeks at a time... a few days in and im climbing the bloody walls, i think i'd actually go insane if i was out of work. My partner is much the same, she is actually worse off for working but does the job because its a pride thing and doesnt like hand outs. i must admit it does piss me off a bit when i see people on the dole and other bennefits driving round in brand new cars and going on holiday each year when we work hard and just to survive
SteveL Posted April 22, 2012 Report Posted April 22, 2012 I wish i could work out how the dole works so i could be as wealthy as these migrants are
w p e Posted April 22, 2012 Report Posted April 22, 2012 lets all work our bo*****s of so we can get taxed to the hilt to pay for all the emigrants milking the system in our wounderful country were we get fook all but they get the lot and yes i went there and dont give a shit. works for people who can't fish
garyv6100e Posted April 22, 2012 Report Posted April 22, 2012 Both my wife and i have a strong work ethic , i have worked since i was 14 and during my late teens and early twenties i was working 7 days a week with an average of only 3-4 weekends of a year. i have calmed down a lot over the years but i still do 5 1/2 days a week. Even though my wife has had kidney failure and is now on dialysis she is self employed as a freelance teacher and works every oppertunity she can Dole scroungers really pi$$ me off
FBF Posted April 22, 2012 Report Posted April 22, 2012 lets all work our bo*****s of so we can get taxed to the hilt to pay for all the emigrants milking the system in our wounderful country were we get fook all but they get the lot and yes i went there and dont give a shit.works for people who can't fish Sod fishing but i agree with the rest of it
LUKE261 Posted April 22, 2012 Report Posted April 22, 2012 I work for a big company that manufacturers engines and we have full sick pay etc, soo many people take the piss its unreal ive had one day off sick all my working life, i would agree with what russ said most people are more bothered bout what theyre entiled too than just getting on with the job. having said that i love my job and dont take the piss id b bored out of my skull at home, like some people have said it was drummed into me too at an early age you must work
evil knievel Posted April 22, 2012 Report Posted April 22, 2012 Even when I'm horrendously ill I feel an enormous sense of guilt!
w p e Posted April 22, 2012 Report Posted April 22, 2012 why fill guilt your/we are just numbers on the tax mans hit list i recon we should all sponge the system that might give the goverment a kick up the arse they need
