Skoty Posted April 23, 2012 Report Posted April 23, 2012 i ordered front and rear screen rubbers from here and when they came the rear one was way too big. when you put the rubber on it had a loop of about 6" hanging off that i couldn't do anything with. rang them up and he said hes never had any problems before and said send it back and he'll check it of which a had to pay delivery as he wouldn't, he got it and said theres nothing wrong with it but i know its too big he tryed telling me maybe my window has been made smaller so i just got a refund and he wouldnt refund the delivery as he said its not his problem. just wondered if anyone else has had any trouble and i dunno where to order a new one as he reckons he supplies most places.
gearbox100 Posted April 23, 2012 Report Posted April 23, 2012 they list them here, no idea who supplies them tho but might be worth a phone call . http://www.oldfordautos.co.uk/phdi/p1.n ... ent&part=3
livewire7116 Posted April 23, 2012 Report Posted April 23, 2012 my mate had a set of mk1 escort rubbers for his 2dr, well the rear qtrs will a complete shit fit and had gaps in the corners, the front and rear rubbers split after a few months, when he spoke to them he was told, "Never had any problems with them before" sounds familiar eh! he was also told that they probably were not fitted properly ], strangley enough i fitted them and have been fitting windscreens for about 15yrs but hey i guess i been doing it wrong all these years! i wouldnt touch thier products with a shitty stick from 50 paces!! more so because of thier crap after sales service

livewire7116 Posted April 23, 2012 Report Posted April 23, 2012 he managed to get some good second hand ones, they looked better and fitted perfect
GJUK Posted April 24, 2012 Report Posted April 24, 2012 Yes I have had issues with parts ordered from them before. Spent good money and as is much the way with all remade escort stuff, doesnt fit, breaks and is mega expensive.
fezza Posted April 24, 2012 Report Posted April 24, 2012 I bought front and rear screen rubber for my mk2 and they fitted ok but I also got some window channel rubbers for my front doors and they were complete crap, the channel was way to wide which meant the glass was rattling around inside them, rang him and got what seems to be his answer to everything " never had a problem before " will be looking elsewhere first in future
GJUK Posted April 24, 2012 Report Posted April 24, 2012 Never had that problem before seems the going comment. I did return mine for a refund however.
mk2 clint Posted April 24, 2012 Report Posted April 24, 2012 spoke to a lad with mk2 escort told me steer clear his rubbers split within 2 months'
fezza Posted April 24, 2012 Report Posted April 24, 2012 To be fair he did offer a refund if I remember correctly but the postage was at my expense, for me it was his bad attitude,I could handle the poor quality of some parts if his attitude was right when questioned about it
frankthefencer Posted April 24, 2012 Report Posted April 24, 2012 This concerns me. I need all the rubbers for my mk2 escort so was banking on them. I now need to find out a new supplier!!! Any ideas for the whole car???
gearbox100 Posted April 24, 2012 Report Posted April 24, 2012 i will be needing some for my mk1 escort in the not too distant future and so need to find a supplier . If his attitude stinks then dont really want to give him my money even if his produst was good quality which it obviously isnt.
Skoty Posted April 24, 2012 Author Report Posted April 24, 2012 yeah i got the front screen, door seals and boot seal too, iv fitted the screen and its fine looks the part too, i haven't tried the door or boot seals yet but what concerns me is there not moulded, there just a cut piece of rubber seal so might look shit when iv fitted them also the door seal and boot seal are exactly the same just different lengths but im not sure wether anywhere does OEM styled ones? i got the rest of the parts from the 105e owners club but was told im better off getting the screen rubber from east kent trim and i realised the door and boot seals are cheaper on there so got them too, he reckons he supplies the club so wouldn't of mattered either way.
livewire7116 Posted April 24, 2012 Report Posted April 24, 2012 COH Baines page 104 of the online catalogue
Ken B Posted April 25, 2012 Report Posted April 25, 2012 yeah i got the front screen, door seals and boot seal too, iv fitted the screen and its fine looks the part too, i haven't tried the door or boot seals yet but what concerns me is there not moulded, there just a cut piece of rubber seal so might look shit when iv fitted them also the door seal and boot seal are exactly the same just different lengths but im not sure wether anywhere does OEM styled ones? i got the rest of the parts from the 105e owners club but was told im better off getting the screen rubber from east kent trim and i realised the door and boot seals are cheaper on there so got them too, he reckons he supplies the club so wouldn't of mattered either way. EKT doesnt supply the owners club for any rubber stuff. The club source their parts from elsewhere. The Anglia stuff from EKT is shite. You should have bought it all from the club, whilst it isn't perfect its far better than EKT. However there are two sizes of rear screen windows on Anglia's. The Club rear screen rubber is made for the bigger one as the small window was only made for a very short time. By the way who ever told you not to buy the screen rubbers from the club, kick him in the nuts
ericuydghia Posted April 25, 2012 Report Posted April 25, 2012 I enquired about a Vinyl roof kit and a headling kit for mk mk 1Granny, got prices all okay, foned and order and got told the vinyl was in stock but not headlining! waited a month called agin still no headlining paid for vinyl which was delivered without a problem but still awaiting to hear about a headlining!! since found a second hand one but still need to replace with new at some point, but can't find anyone that supplies them!!!
GJUK Posted April 25, 2012 Report Posted April 25, 2012 I wonder how much trade this company has lost thanks to this thread
Ken B Posted April 25, 2012 Report Posted April 25, 2012 And all the the other numerous threads over various internet forums. If he treated his customers correctly supplied quality goods, and generally told the truth, he wouldn't have a problem would he.

It's common in the 'hobby'.
TILBROOK Posted April 25, 2012 Report Posted April 25, 2012 iv had 2 sets from them both were good (mk1+2)
livewire7116 Posted April 25, 2012 Report Posted April 25, 2012 iv had 2 sets from them both were good (mk1+2) i suppose someone had to get a faulty set!
Justmark Posted April 25, 2012 Report Posted April 25, 2012 Aldridge trimmers in Wolverhampton are the company to use. done 2 mk1 escorts and a mk2 now and all there seals are very good.the window seals in particular are a perfect fit so are the door seals. all the door cards come mint probably a better fit than when they came out the factory. same prices as east Kent give or take a few quid on some seals.only things that are not good are the kick panels they look a bit cheap but the main stuff is spot on.
Skoty Posted May 2, 2012 Author Report Posted May 2, 2012 yeah well i wont use them ever again and wont advise anyone else to, the screen rubber from EKT is the only good part fits nice and looks nice the rest was a load of the round ones to be honest wish i did just get all club stuff while its not perfect its a nicer service. this video is a tribute to about East Kent Trims JaY7VTftPdY
JP. Posted May 3, 2012 Report Posted May 3, 2012 Doing businness with East Kent Trim Suplies for 8 years now and never had issues with their rubbers. Did build 4 Capri's with their stuff and suplied several people with their stuff. Never had complains. Aldridge trimmers in Wolverhampton are the company to use. . Thats funny cause I know that Aldridge sells rubbers from East Kent Trim Suplies as does Burtonpower and OldFordParts and so on.
Skoty Posted May 3, 2012 Author Report Posted May 3, 2012 yeah but from my experience and alot of other's there aload of crap, it could be certain cars i guess? but the parts i ordered for my Anglia were all a load of tripe so i wouldn't buy anglia parts there again for sure and his attitude stinks, im finding it hard to find another producer to replace the parts i bought from East Kent.
