RFChris Posted January 28, 2007 Report Posted January 28, 2007 To everyone who turned out today for the first south west meet! :D:D:D:D Utterly bloody fantastic day, apart from being moved on my Police! Having said that, the coppers were cool and gave us permission to use the park and ride over the road! Some great cars too, a real eclectic mix! Even a MKII 'Tina that didn't have an engine, brakes or wheels 24 hours ago! Big thanks to VistaRS too, it wouldn't have gone as well were it not for his help! Top fella! So, watch this space as we're planning to make this a regular thing now! OSF! Come on the south-west! :D

Admin Vista Posted January 28, 2007 Admin Report Posted January 28, 2007 Just like to add to Chris's thanks, it was a great day out and never in my wildest dreams did I expect there to be nearly 80 cars there. Evidently neither did the manager of the travelodge who called the Old Bill, a touch uncalled for I feel as all he had to do was ask us to move but hey whatever. It was great to put a few more names to faces from on here and my thanks go out especially to three groups / individuals for the efforts they made. 1. All those who travelled some distance to make it 2. Visiting clubs like the Duchy Capri club, RSOC and Anglia owners club 3. Rebel MC as mentioned in Chris's post his car didn't have an engine or box 12 hours before and indeed he was still fitting the gearbox in Plymouth at 10 am this morning! Well done mate, sterling effort. Finally commiserations to the owner of the lovely Yellow Mk1 RS2000 that went back with the AA, it was it's first day out after a 7 year resto, and he lost his diff plug on the M5, lost all the oil and cooked the Diff. Who has a 3.54 English Diff in the Bristol area, anyone?

groomers Posted January 28, 2007 Report Posted January 28, 2007 yep brake line broke so no rear brakes misfiring coz it runs like a bag of poo when its just been started, rings have gone and the bottom end is fooked so gotta build new motor - quickly! have to sort brakes at work tomorrow

As soon as we explained that we had sought permission but were expecting 20 to 40 cars not 70 to 80 they understood and made arrangements for us to use the park and ride. Well done for organising it, and to Rebel MC for a sterling 19 hour shift to get the Cortina done. We would have come in a bloody 'Cavalier in a dress' else.
