Done the usual, internet first, confused.com came with the cheapest of £2500

 

Then confused rang me up and said to try Adrian Flux becuase they specialise in Fords and young drivers , to which they put me through to them and after 20 mins of questions, came to the price of £3000

 

 

Who else is good with younger drivers and Old Fords??? Really thinking about cancelling my test and stayin on a provisional, only pay £800

You are lucky you are only paying £800 on provisional, Jordan is paying £1200 with the cost going up to £2700 when he passes ... shame he's not a girl as it would only be £999

 

Another member on here has told me to try >> Footman James, Lancaster and needtoinsure ... not tried them yet as the provisional insurance is still running but I will do when it comes to him passing his test

Terry (Turnip) has a mate in insurance who told us to try Admiral but we did that and they were £2600 so, no cheaper than the current provider. What a rip off

adrian flux have never been cheap for me,

 

i have been with HIC and currently my escort is insured with lancaster at £391 with mods and agreed value

you'll be lucky to get less than 2k on any insurance just after passing! Try seeing if anyone will give you a better deal if you did Passplus after your test. It'll cost you about £150 to do but some companies will give up to about 30% discount! You will need to shop around though, be prepared to spend all day on the phone GOOD LUCK, the test is the easier bit Lol

Im with insure2drive now at £800, gunna ring them up, and see how much it is extra if they just change my policy over now, instead of cancelling and taking out a new one

I could get insured on a Lamborghini Gallardo for £9000, concidering the power that puts out, in comparison to the escort, seems cheap

Try adding both of your parents as named drivers to the policy,this usually brings it down a bit

Insurance. I often think it depends on the wind direction.

 

One minute a broker can be mega expensive, the next they're cheap as chips.

 

Age is against you, it will be for quite some time. Don't get down about it though; you can probably still touch your toes while many with cheap insurance proably can't see theirs any more!

 

You're doing the right thing about phoning around. Comparison websites work, to a degree. Not very well with classics though.

 

Garage the car if possible. Reduce your mileage. Have a second car to drive (named driver on your parents car for example). Add your parent on your insurance if he/she will drive it. Don't modify cars!!!

 

I'm 27, the mk1 I've nearly finished had had most things changed, caged etc. Costs me £380 this month to insure it. I have a company car and another car I'm insured on. 4 cars in the house in total. every little helps pain the picture you're 'responsible'. Get married, that helps also. lol.

 

The mk2 1.3 l in std form cost me £70 to insure it last year.

 

S'all about the risk and if they're willing to take it.

Got my dad going to the local insurance place tomorrow to have a chat, as we'd heard that one of our mates went down, got a old beetle, got his daughter insured on it for £900 a year, after getting stupidly expensive quotes, so hopefully they can sort me out too

Will be very interested to hear about the outcome Tom .... one thing with your mate - girls are cheaper to insure than boys .... Jordan (mistakenly) filled out the form as if he was a girl and got a quote for £999, he filled the same form out and changed it to a boy and it was £2700

After reading this I panicked

So just got a quote from Lancaster insurance and I’m really surprised!

With all mods and a daft valuation they quoted me £269!!!!

Happy with that as i'm only 23. Its cheaper than the rot box micra a run as a daily

Got a quote from them ones i said about earlier, cheapest they could find was £5k

 

But they did say to me, stick with your current insurer, as you have history, so might work out cheaper, and also keep it the same policy (as ill only have to pay 6 months worth of the yearly price, therefore making it cheaper, as the year after ill have 1 years NCB, and ill be 18, therefor should be a little cheaper) just get them to change the licence type over Gunna ring them up this week, gunna pay the 6 months out-right, also making it cheaper, then start saving for my second years insurance
