Hi All

Here's a few pics of my MK2. I originaly bought it as a bare GP4 shell and spent the next 3½ years building it. It's now been on the road for about 3 years and always puts a smile on my face when I take it for a spin

Cheers

Neil

Nice set up Neil and lovely car!

I have the same cooling set up with radtec radiator but am not getting on with it very well. It never overheats but the reading on the temperature gauge isn't very stable. It'll read 2/3 sometimes and 1/3 others and creeps up and down continually rather than staying stable at a fixed temperature. Does yours do that too?

Never had any problem with the temperature and it stays in the mid 80's when driving. Only issue I had was with the fan running on too long, but an updated fan switch on the rad cured it. Have you tested your temp sender and thermostat in case they are causing the problem?

No, admittedly, I haven't but both are brand new. It's the erratic behavior of the gauge that I'm concerned about. Do you use the standard RS dash gauge or an aftermarket one and where are you measuring your temperature to get mid 80's?

I don't use the standard gauge in the dash and have an aftermarket one. It uses the standard sender in the cylinder head. It might be worth checking the voltage regulator at the back of the dash as I had to replace mine when the fuel gauge started giving erratic readings. That fixed my problem.

I know I'm REALLY going to regret this but I've decided to sell the car. It's spending most of the time locked away in the garage and I'm never realistically going to get it out on a track, which was the main purpose of building it. Only covered 1300 miles in the last year :-(
