Hello, my name is Pedro, i live in Portugal, and i bought a Capri mk1 pre-facelift 5 years ago.

This was a barn find, as you can see..

This Capri was built at Halewood factory, end of 1971, sold to Angola, and bought by the previous (and only) owner, before me.

At this time, Angola was under the administration of Portugal, but when the war between these two countries begin, almost every portuguese had to leave Angola and return to Portugal.

This is what hapenned, the previous owner left Angola with his family and only the things that the Capri could transport, and arrived at Portugal in the year of 1976.

Mr. Antonio drove the Capri for 10/15 years, but he had other cars, and the Capri stayed in a barn for 15 years, until i found it..

First time i saw the this Capri i promised myself buy the car.

3 weeks after, the car was mine!

After a full restoration, 5 years ago...

Welcome to the site :) lovely car and a great story too.

The story is not over... :D

I will need your help in several questions, sometimes in Portugal it's dificult to find correct information about some details!

But the project for 2013 is a road trip Portugal - UK - Portugal, and visit the Halewood factory, where the Capri was built in 1971.

Now it belongs to Jaguar, right?

It will be hard, mas it´s a dream to go there with my Capri...

Is there dates for the Classic Ford shows in 2013?

I'm not alone in this trip... if everything goes ok, one of my good friends will go to, in his orange Escort mk1, fully restored.

Hey guys,

I have a small issue with my Capri headlighs, they are a bit rusty so I  bought a pair of NOS original Lucas headlights, from Uk, but the beam is for rhd.

Now I need your help..

I saw for sale some stickers eurolite for converting the beam rhd/lhd or lhf/rhd.. are they compatible with prefacelift Capri lights??

Anyone instaled these stickers on a classic car? Results?

Thanks

it was a long time ago but i am sure in the late 70's i managed to split the headlamp lens from the bowl on Mk1 headlights, I think i used a heat gun and some sharp instruments as i wanted to repair the rusty inner bowl, what i'm thinking is with one of your old headlights see if you can split it open?, if so then do the same with the same new one and swop yr lens to the new bowl, use silicon sealant or epoxy resin to glue them back together then you have nice shiny bowls on yr l/h drive

Pete.....
