stuartp Posted December 2, 2012 Report Posted December 2, 2012 this happened on the way home and guess who hadn't brought a jack with him
Savvi Posted December 2, 2012 Report Posted December 2, 2012 Did you run over something or just the tyre let go ? Looks like theres a bit of cracking inbetween the tread whiich would cause a blow out, might be worth checking the others, looks like you were lucky with that one if no damage done !!!
Admin Vista Posted December 2, 2012 Admin Report Posted December 2, 2012 Bet your other half is filled with confidence about the new car!
banarama Posted December 2, 2012 Report Posted December 2, 2012 did you try drifting on the roundabout stu
stuartp Posted December 3, 2012 Author Report Posted December 3, 2012 i didn't do nuffink - honest! i was just driving along, the steering wheel slowly started vibrating, it got progressively worse so i slowed down a bit looking for somewhere to pull over and then BANG i have a set of wheels i'm going to put on the car so it's not a longterm problem (just need to make sure the nuts are the right ones, which is something i'm not confident on) i think the wife still likes the car but it was certainly a bit of a shock it's a cool car btw and probably known to some of you on here already
stuartp Posted December 5, 2012 Author Report Posted December 5, 2012 got the rs 4 spokes on tonight - cold and dark but job jobbed
banarama Posted December 5, 2012 Report Posted December 5, 2012 got the rs 4 spokes on tonight - cold and dark but job jobbed hope the tyres are good mate
stuartp Posted December 6, 2012 Author Report Posted December 6, 2012 hope the tyres are good mate me too been driving round with them on another car for the last 6 months so I trust them looking at the ones I took off I think it was maybe only one old knackered one, or that it did go over something that damaged it as the other three seem totally fine anyway, the car looks loads better with them on - will take a pic at lunchtime
lotusless Posted December 6, 2012 Report Posted December 6, 2012 Oooooh a mk4 ! i thought it was a mk5, nice one Stuart.
BudgieV8 Posted December 6, 2012 Report Posted December 6, 2012 Glad everything is sorted Stuart - just make sure the wheelnuts are the correct ones as the steel nuts are different
Admin Vista Posted December 6, 2012 Admin Report Posted December 6, 2012 Are they laser alloys or RS alloys? You'll need taper nuts for the former and flat washer nuts for the latter
stuartp Posted December 7, 2012 Author Report Posted December 7, 2012 Glad everything is sorted Stuart - just make sure the wheelnuts are the correct ones as the steel nuts are different I bought the right ones with the tapered end - annoyingly i had a set of flat ones for earlier rs 4 spokes laying around but couldn't use them apart from not starting very well (which i'll sort out asap) it's bloody great - loving it! thanks (and get that yellow beastie fixed up asap)
