Please post your ideas and/or suggestions on anything that you think may enhance the forum or the Club itself. Perhaps you have seen something on another forum that works well and might work for us too

ok, I'll wind my neck out and go first

The navigation needs sorting out, every time you go into a thread or reply to a thread the forum directs to "news", meaning you have to click on "forum" to get back to "view new posts"

Im guessing the the forum is not sitting on the root folder and news/portal/cms is? Or the settings in the admin CP are not quite correct!?!

Or a nice "new posts" button in the nav bar would surfice :tits:

Its not really that bigger issue, more of an observation

Maybe have a new banner at the top of the forum like there used to about signing up for membership? Nothing to pushey but something about the benefits of paying your £12 and a wicked pic in the background

i understand everyone has a life outside osf but the front page is a year old maybe update it every other month or so?

We are aware of that and are embarrassed to admit we've had a little trouble figuring out how to since a software update was made to the forum's operating system. Your comment is entirely justified however and we'll look into it :oops::lol:

i agree with the navigation side of things, but to be honest i find the same issue with most of the forums

you should feature a snap shot of peoples 'pride and joy' in the banner or something and get it changed weekly or monthly

maybe have a deal of the month page showing the bargains that can be had for contributors, with the money i have saved though discounted goods being an osf member ive saved enough to buy a years membership about 6 times over, i dont think people are aware of the potential savings

if i click 'view new posts' and view this thread, when i go back to the top of the screen i only have the option to 'view my posts' the option to go back to 'view new posts' is taken away so you have to go back to 'forum' then 'view new posts'

I think you could make it so that for the first 7 days of a listing only purple members can open threads in the "cars for sale" and "parts for sale" section. Other people can see the title but not open it. It's like that on the opel manta owners club, as i've got a thing for A series manta's and always look for them on there, but can never see the listing till 7 days after, if I was serious about buying one i'd prob be a member as anything really good will go in that time.

I mean if you saw a title like "mk1 escort 2dr £4500" and you was serious about buying one you'd pay to be purple to be able to have a looksy.

Just an idea to try and get more people to be members anyway, have a look at http://forums.mantaclub.org/ and see what i mean in the cars for sale part.

also how about putting all the most popular forums at the top of the list, maybe,

OLD SKOOL FORD CHAT

CHIT CHAT

READERS RIDES PAST & PRESENT

MEETS

SHOWS/EVENTS FOR 2013

OLD SKOOL FORD CARS FOR SALE

OLD SKOOL FORD PARTS FOR SALE

maybe that's just me being lazy about scrolling down, as those tend to be the ones I check everytime im on! ha ha

Something like this happened on a site i used and after the 7 day rule type thing the others could view , well after a few months of the 7 day rule the for sales went virtually stagnent, then after a few more months the site was virtually non existant ....now its gone though it was a good site ....Just the other side of the coin :D

Is there anything positive or all negative ?

Who wants to step forward and help out on the site?

I have read through this post and there are some good points and they will be discussed 100% . One of the problems we have is that mike like all of us has a full time job doing IT and the last thing he wants to do is come home and spend hours doing upgrades to the site this is where our hands are tied .

Also we have about on average about £40 ish pound a month coming into the pot and £160 going out :banghead: this pot has a bottom to it.

There are a hand full of members on here that set up meets etc and I’m pretty sure there are more out there which can to .

Merchandise ideas would be great ... Maybe a new design for clothing ? Maybe something different ideas would be great.

A link to make an extra donation to the club to help with the running costs would be good, guess there are some who have the spare cash and interest to help with the running costs, paypal is easy....
