ratman Posted February 3, 2007 Report Posted February 3, 2007 My first years insurance is up for renewal so I get a letter from my Insurance company giving me my new premium with a £36 discount from last year as I have managed not to hit any thing but my policy is a 2000 mile one and as I have done 1600 miles last year and this year I want to use it more I ring them up to increase it to a 50000 miles a year I speek to a young girl on the phone and come back with a £80.00 extra for the 3000 miles Now me being a tight git I said that’s a bit much can you get it down a bit So she said she needs to go thro all the details on my policy when we get to the engine bhp I said 175 she said you said 75bhp when you took out the policy how did you get the extra 100 bhp from No I didn’t I said I told your broker all the mods also sent a 28 page agreed value document what was returned with a agreed value letter from your company excepting all the mods and cover for £10.000 That’s immaterial she said you lied on your appellation and said 75 bhp Now Im fooking mad I only want to raise the miles per year and now some kid is telling me I lied when I know I didn’t and we are 35 minits in to a phone call that looks like my insurance is void So I give it the put me on to your manager now ! On comes another guy all full of appoliges I explain about the 28 page agreed value document and I hadn’t lied he said the brokers don’t read all of the agreed value documents because they are to lazy So now Im on one got him by the balls after another 15 mints arguing Got my 5000 mile I wanted Got the Tina’s agreed value up to £12,000 in line with current prices And track day cover (that I didn’t have before) All for £18.00 extra All for being a stroppy git LOVE IT

Admin Vista Posted February 3, 2007 Admin Report Posted February 3, 2007 Always pays to fight your corner doesn't it! Who are you with incidentally? My renewal is due soon and I feel I should do some shopping around.
pelvins Posted February 3, 2007 Report Posted February 3, 2007 thought this was going to be another insurance disaster when first reading , NICE ONE ratman , i hate insurance companys i took me a year to get an agreed value !!
Jimbob-Squarepants © Posted February 3, 2007 Report Posted February 3, 2007 That's great news mate Incidently, mine never went down, it stayed the same. I pay £360 odd quid for both the Capri & the Anglia. Admittedly, the Capri is the huge bulk of that which comes in at about £340. I said, hang on, I have 1 years no claims now, is this quote right??? They said on a classic policy, no claims doesn't do alot, it goes by the year/age of the vehicle. We shall see what happens next year I suppose!
Mk 1 Mark Posted February 3, 2007 Report Posted February 3, 2007 Hip hip Hooray......Well done Ratman Glad you sorted it...All steel Hot rod pinto.... 75 bhp LMFAO
60ftman Posted February 3, 2007 Report Posted February 3, 2007 I find you have to give them sh*t every year or you get stitched up. I phone mine at every renewal and say, "Every year you send me a renewal, and every year I phone around and get a lower quote, and then every year you decide to match that quote." "Let's not play the game any more. How low can you insure me for?" Usually they pass me onto a 'supervisor' (slightly older school-leaver who can either tell the time or spell his/her own name without help), and every year it works. Saved £100 last year - result!
