smallish 4x4 which one?

Hi, can anyone suggest a smallish 4x4, i have a mitsubushi pinnin at the moment, bought it new in 2005 and only done 55k miles been really happy with it but as i now have grandchildren it a bit too much hassel to get the kids in the back as its only a 2 door. It has always done everything i have asked of it even towed a car on a trailer several times.

Im looking for a 2lt diesel, i like the look of the jeep patriot and the freelander 2 but worried about the reliability of these, anyone had any experience of any of these or maybe suggest something else.

My budget would be around £7-£8 k plus maybe a p/x on the pinin

Ford Kuga? They are available in both 2WD and 4WD the 2wd ones can be had from around 9 - 10k so within budget when including your PX

thought about the kuga, just a bit worried that there seems to be so many 2nd hand one available after such short ownership. I could poss afford one but i dont want a high milage motor

thinking along the lines of a freelander got to be 2007 plus though

anyone got one for sale or knows a bit about them. not interested in the 1.8 petrol, got to be the 2ltr diesel

I had a 2.7td Nissan Terrano from almost new which was in 2003. Had no issues at all, not one in the 5yrs I had it.

 

Bit bigger than 2ltr but cheap to but & not bad on fuel either.

Great car cheap on diesel and pulls like a train well happy with it  Kuga titanium 2.5 .

i looked at the 4 door oinin but they dont do a diesel and i think they stopped making them around the 55 plate, but having said that  if a good one came along i would really think about it.

still thinking about the freelander though maybe 06 to 07 got to be 2ltr diesel.

Looked at the new dacia duster today, looks like a good motor at the price £14k brand new but only a 1.5 ltr

I got a 3 door Terrano and its by far the best 4x4 I ever had.

 

Mines an N reg but I had to stop using it on the road because the body work is now too far gone.... we still use it off road on the farm because mechanically its excellent

 

Not bad on fuel either for a 2.7 turbo diesel
