BIGKEV Posted February 5, 2007 Report Posted February 5, 2007 Fook that Wessie - I want more pics of this one !!
60ftman Posted February 5, 2007 Report Posted February 5, 2007 i want to find out what engine is in it It was originally built by, and belonged to, John 'Armco' Tebenham and had a 600+ BHP Cossie Turbo in it. It was blue at that time. In this guise (yellow & stripes) was raced by John Ricketts and had a big-block (7 litre plus) Chevrolet V8 on nitrous. Eventually got down to the low 9 seconds in the quarter, and I believe he still owns it.
ZetecVan 2.0 Posted February 5, 2007 Report Posted February 5, 2007 When John Tebenham built first built it, it had a kindof standard bodyshell. It was constantly appearing in Street Machine, and it was white then. That's when it had the cossie. He then got that urge to go faster and faster, so bits of metal were cut out here and there (unimportant thinks like inner wings etc), and evolved into what it is now. I've not seen it that colour before.
Dalek Posted February 5, 2007 Report Posted February 5, 2007 That's Bunmans cossie powered anglia, it was in Classic Fart mag a while back when Marc Stretton was the editor.

No,that was another shell which jt sold on,the tube chassie'd 105e in the pics is actually the 2nd shell on that chassis after jt rolled it testing for mountune at boreham with the original tubed shell. I know this because I crewed for him and had to bring the totalled car back home on both occasions! He sold it to its current owner after the 2nd accident at the pod. puddy
60ftman Posted February 6, 2007 Report Posted February 6, 2007 Crikey, aren't we a knowledgeable lot!!! I notice there are no pics of my old 7-litre Anglia, and I'm too much of an old fart to know how to post the pics, so someone out there can do it!!

As far back as I can remember Tebnams car was allways Primrose yellow with a white roof, even when it was a street car, I think I am right in saying the car started with Pinto, then a normal Cosworth Sierra engine, but later evolved into a BDT, the car was seriously quick, and eventually was rolled several times, I think the car was sold on after that, John was later commisioned by Ford to build a Drag Racing RWD Focus, as they were worried a small engined FWD ford would not sell to the yoof in the states against what the japs were bringing into the country, The car was again BDT powered, I think it ran 7s in the states, as it was built as a promotional tool to sell the Focus in the states it was raced hard and took a few class record out there before it was written off in an accident, obviously the promotion worked as there is a BIG Focus scene in the US BTW I am not totally sure the car in the first pic is Tebnums car, Neil @ 105speed may have a better Idea as he seems to be able to remember lots of 105e details everbody else forgets Im sure Puddy will put me right if I am wrong Ian

As they say presumption is the mother of all fook ups!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
105Speed Posted February 6, 2007 Report Posted February 6, 2007 Sorry mate.. not really into drag racing. Last guise I saw JT's car in was pale blue with a union jack on the roof. Something to do with showing the flag to the germans when it wheelied off the line, but that may be journalistic licence as it was a Classic Ford article. Didnt John take the engine from the Anglia and put it in a Ford Probe 'Funny Car' type thing ?
w p e Posted February 6, 2007 Report Posted February 6, 2007 the said focus was the second BDT powerd car the first was a ford probe built by wayne saunders of brighton not john tebenhem. the probe was sold to john when ford america asked saunders to build the focus for the promtion in the states. the car won the faster 4 cylinder car world title with a 7 sec pass. i think JT STILLS OWNS THE PROBE
60ftman Posted February 6, 2007 Report Posted February 6, 2007 Yeah, last time I saw JT's probe it was in full 'Thunderbird 2' colours.
60ftman Posted February 6, 2007 Report Posted February 6, 2007 BTW I am not totally sure the car in the first pic is Tebnums car, Neil @ 105speed may have a better Idea as he seems to be able to remember lots of 105e details everbody else forgets Im sure Puddy will put me right if I am wrong Ian Yes, it is (or was).
