Mickey Stewart Posted May 16, 2013 Report Posted May 16, 2013 Had a day off today so decided to change the wheels on my RS2, keeping the original wheels locked away for future use I think it looks better on the 4 spokes Still got jobs to do as below to finish it off: Complete new interior on order All chrome removed and sent off for re-chroming Small dent removed from roof and boot Fit new filter cover with correct brackets New seals on reversing lights with correct screws Remove bonnet and boot stripe and replace as poorly fitted Change core plugs as one leaking Repair slight fuel leak on fuel tank Remove brake fail switch in engine bay, clean and replace New rear shoes Refurbish Binnacle Replace under bonnet rubbers Maybe fitting Cibies
Admin Vista Posted May 16, 2013 Admin Report Posted May 16, 2013 If you're going to replace the bonnet and boot decals, it might be wise to replace them all as you might end up with a slightly mismatched shade. Where are you sourcing the replacements from and where did the originals come from? Ah the Cibie dilemma. I ummed and ahhed about that when I bought mine as it didn't have them either. You know, even though I chose to fit them, I'm still not sure. Before After
Mickey Stewart Posted May 16, 2013 Author Report Posted May 16, 2013 I think you car looks better with cibies to be honest. The stickers I get from DMB Graphics, not sure where the originals come from

rallyesport04 Posted May 16, 2013 Report Posted May 16, 2013 i had cibies on my escort took them off an thought it looked much better but its your car make it look how you prefer the good thing with escorts back in the day there was so many options an extras so theres no right or wrong way to mod a escort aslong as its period it will look great an still be worth good money the only bug bear is having to drill the front pannel if you change your mind your left with holes
aardvark101 Posted May 16, 2013 Report Posted May 16, 2013 Do you want to light up the whole muthr F*ckin road for a mile in front ? answer A...yes,, fit them lamps Answer B , mmmm not fussed, then do not fit lamps 2
dacar Posted May 16, 2013 Report Posted May 16, 2013 Depends what mood your in but it looks good both with and without!!
mk2 mike Posted May 17, 2013 Report Posted May 17, 2013 Coincidence that, I've been thinking the same lately about my cibies. When I were a lad I always wanted 2up 2 downs but couldn't afford them, so they were the top of my list when I got my car a few years ago. Although I liked them for a couple of years, lately I've been looking at cars without and thinking they look much 'cleaner', so I removed mine today and I much prefer it without. Less fussy in my opinion. I think they're one of those things where you'll have to try them before you decide.
Admin Vista Posted May 17, 2013 Admin Report Posted May 17, 2013 I think a mk1 suits them and looks good with or without. A mk2 hoever looks cleaner without as the bonnet shut lines etc are straighter
texr2000 Posted May 17, 2013 Report Posted May 17, 2013 Looks so much better on new wheels! im not a fan of lights on the front of them unless rally spec 1
5tox Posted May 17, 2013 Report Posted May 17, 2013 im not a massive fan of cibies, for me they hide a fantastic looking front end hidden behind them. for that reason i have HID's to replace the original candle powered headlights but having said all of that i prefer vista's pic above with them fitted, maybe other things influence how they look, i.e quatre bumpers, standard or works indicators, colour choice etc... either way you have to choose what you like rather than doing it to please others, im gonna have gas bonnet struts (most people will hate them but its what i want)
