hotrs2000 Posted September 21, 2006 Report Posted September 21, 2006 Well they arrived the other day, Company callled Bogg Brother supplied the carbs and rebuilt them with the correct jets for my engine spec, made the manifold and included choke and throttle cables and all for £325. Car runs very well and is so smooth, revs well past 7000. It also better on the gogo juice compared to when I was running a single 38DGAS. Hope to get the RS on the rollers soon to see what power its putting out.
Admin Mk2Jo Posted September 22, 2006 Admin Report Posted September 22, 2006 Wow, that looks really good and a very good price too I will be very interested to see what the results are on the RR
mk1super Posted September 22, 2006 Report Posted September 22, 2006 bike carbs! love them Most bikes now are now on fuel Injection you think anyone will try that next? or has it been done already? And use any carbs you want except Fireblade ones cos ive found they cost a small fortune.
RChambers Posted September 22, 2006 Report Posted September 22, 2006 I used Suzuki GSXR750/1000 throttle bodies on my zetec.
ExotronGammaPlusSequencer Posted September 22, 2006 Report Posted September 22, 2006 And use any carbs you want except Fireblade ones cos ive found they cost a small fortune. Ive gone for mikuni's on my 100e-same manifold though And my mate has gone for GSXR throttle bodies on his prefect too I know how well they run but it will be nice to see if they give any power gains....
dannyboy Posted September 22, 2006 Report Posted September 22, 2006 Oooh. I'm jsut on their website now. How long did it take, I just need the manifold(xflow though), do you know how much that might be? Did you send them the head?Or do they have the measurements? They look wicked, I have the carbs and just waiting to get paid. Ive gone for smaller Kawasaki 400's, I just want a decent drivable car, and I dont really have the £££ to have a nutter
Admin Mk2Jo Posted September 22, 2006 Admin Report Posted September 22, 2006 Hmm, I really like this idea. So .... what's the advantages or disadvantages of bike carbs then or is it just an alternative ????
dannyboy Posted September 22, 2006 Report Posted September 22, 2006 Apparantly drivability, improved throttle response, and each cylinder has its own mini carb (if you get me). Plus they are cheap (my carbs were £30) and its fun to be different lol NB : there's probs loads of technical terms and advantages that my minscule mind does not own
Johnson Posted September 22, 2006 Report Posted September 22, 2006 they look the nuts. nice manifold too. keep us posted when you get it on the rolling road
Admin Mk2Jo Posted September 22, 2006 Admin Report Posted September 22, 2006 It's the idea of the price and the fact that they are a little different that I like
CéDriC Posted September 22, 2006 Report Posted September 22, 2006 And use any carbs you want except Fireblade ones cos ive found they cost a small fortune. Ive gone for mikuni's on my 100e-same manifold though And my mate has gone for GSXR throttle bodies on his prefect too http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y141/o ... A/gsxr.jpg I know how well they run but it will be nice to see if they give any power gains.... From which bike mikuni comes? interested by some on my X-Flow...
hotrs2000 Posted September 22, 2006 Author Report Posted September 22, 2006 My car wouldn't tick over below 1250 rpm on the 38DGAS, but now its ticking over at 800rpm. Bogg Brothers make all sort of manifolds as they do alot of kit cars, if you give them your own carbs and tell them the engine spec they will jett them up for you. give them a call on 01944738234, i had to wait for the carbs which was about 5 weeks but if you already have them it will be a lot quicker. I'll keep you posted on the power out put. Kieran
CéDriC Posted September 22, 2006 Report Posted September 22, 2006 i've phone them, so i decide to go to 285 piper cam and mikuni carbs with their own manifold... great man, and nice chat...
caprifan Posted September 22, 2006 Report Posted September 22, 2006 ...do you need to run an aftermarket ECU when running bike carbs or is it all done like normal carbs ie based on jet sizes etc...can they be fitted to any engine ?
Gareth Posted September 22, 2006 Report Posted September 22, 2006 To convert em into throttle bodies you'll need an ECU, whereas if you jus wanna replacment for your carbs/injection etc you can use em without ECU. I know a couple of companies make them into throttle bodies (can't remember tho ) It'd be best to call Bogg Bros to see if they've developed a manifold fr a V engine, I think they were. A v6 on bike carbs.....
CéDriC Posted September 22, 2006 Report Posted September 22, 2006 apparently they're real carbs, no TB... and they do some V engine, not six, but 8 rover...
Gareth Posted September 22, 2006 Report Posted September 22, 2006 Ooooohh..... When Iread the write up inRetrocars about a year ago they were developing one there are some companies that convert them to run with an ECU kinda like a cheap throttle body. I think Emerald make one but dont quote me on that. I saw them in CF in a carb article
perry Posted September 22, 2006 Report Posted September 22, 2006 From which bike mikuni comes? standard equipment on most jap/harley bikes , except when they use the keihins
CéDriC Posted September 22, 2006 Report Posted September 22, 2006 From which bike mikuni comes? standard equipment on most jap/harley bikes , except when they use the keihins Thanks.... Love the look they have...
Tom Posted September 22, 2006 Report Posted September 22, 2006 what's the engine spec on your pinto mate? they look great!
caprifan Posted September 22, 2006 Report Posted September 22, 2006 ....ok really daft question but whats the difference in them as throttle bodies and having them as carbs ?
Fiesta Steve Posted September 22, 2006 Report Posted September 22, 2006 ....ok really daft question but whats the difference in them as throttle bodies and having them as carbs ? They are just a carb m8 the same as weber and the same as every other carb, just because they are off a bike they are no different. Its the same difference between twin webers and 'normal' throttle bodies. One is a carb the other is fuel injected, both are one choke per cylinder.
