harris horse power Posted June 3, 2013 Report Posted June 3, 2013 After a couple years of trying to beat Dave Edmunds time of 13.08 in his legendary 1800 xflow powered fiesta , I finally done it yesterday at pod after running a 13.05 @ 101mph. So mine is now the quickest xflow powered fiesta ever And I may have even convinced fiesta Steve to get his arse in gear! 3
Joe Little Posted June 3, 2013 Report Posted June 3, 2013 fantastic achievement, and even more impressive with it being fwd. what was the 60ft on that?
harris horse power Posted June 3, 2013 Author Report Posted June 3, 2013 Thanks people the 60ft time was 1.8 I'm running 2.1 degrees front camber so I'm gna get that down to 0 and see if it helps, but I can't see me getting any better 60ft out of a fwd.
turnover Posted June 3, 2013 Report Posted June 3, 2013 Certainly sounded well and very quick for fwd well done
Kieran Posted June 4, 2013 Report Posted June 4, 2013 well done Simon was good to watch, you going to Retro Show next month?
Fiesta Steve Posted June 5, 2013 Report Posted June 5, 2013 Absolutely amazing achievement, which is probably not appreciated enough by most people here. Dave set his 13.08 some time in the 1990's and it was an epic 1/4 mile time back in the day. Its taken all these years to be beaten which goes to show how difficult it is to run those sort of times with a fwd xflow. Is anyone aware of a faster n/a fwd Ford ?? Maybe it's time to finish mine, hopefully it'll be competitive. Well done Simon, it's a wonderful achievenent and well deserved too..
SmokeEm Posted June 5, 2013 Report Posted June 5, 2013 I am no expert of FWD racing but the merest fact its taken so long speaks volumes. Why has it taken so long? Surely the track is better so what is different then to now that still makes it so close?? Either way its a hell of an achievement!
Fiesta Steve Posted June 5, 2013 Report Posted June 5, 2013 I am no expert of FWD racing but the merest fact its taken so long speaks volumes. Why has it taken so long? Surely the track is better so what is different then to now that still makes it so close?? Either way its a hell of an achievement! The Crossflow in Dave Edmunds Fiesta was something else. 1824cc, Steel everything, SCCR box etc.. It made over 200 bhp on Sanspeeds rollers, we now know those figures are optimistic as was anything that came off of their rollers but it was probably 180+ bhp in real money. At the time it was the countrys fastest FWD car, before the turbo cars took over. Many a magazine artical have been written on Dave's Fiesta over the years, probably more than any other car !! What Simon has achieved is quite incredible give the spec, I not sure what the spec is but I guess 1700, cast crank ?? As far as I am aware no FWD Ford (n/a) has ever gone sub 13 seconds..
SmokeEm Posted June 6, 2013 Report Posted June 6, 2013 I think I remember Dave Edmunds car back in the day. was it around the same time as that Brown mk4 2.3 pinto'd Tina? Both were fast as fook! Bearing in mind then Steve that Dave's car was 1800 and Simons is 1700, does that not mean that a sub 12sec pass is likely in the future? The limit surely can't be on grip as there are N/A jap crap running 11's I believe?
Justmark Posted June 6, 2013 Report Posted June 6, 2013 well done looked very quick at c/f these fiestas might be quick but who cares, slow rwd or fast fwd, half the cars at the show were not actually classic cars, theres more to life than speed like style.
welshmike Posted June 7, 2013 Report Posted June 7, 2013 these fiestas might be quick but who cares, slow rwd or fast fwd, half the cars at the show were not actually classic cars, theres more to life than speed like style. theres more to life than style too, like speed haha A car that goes and sounds like that fiesta will always impress me more than one parked up with someone polishing it every 2 minutes. 'spose it takes all sorts. and I love the 'style' of this car, purpousfull, no bullshit. Seeing this Fiesta and the orange Harris Mk2 Escort ragging up the strip together was one of the highlights of the show for me. Congratulations on your time bud, very impressive.
rallyesport04 Posted June 8, 2013 Report Posted June 8, 2013 these fiestas might be quick but who cares, slow rwd or fast fwd, half the cars at the show were not actually classic cars, theres more to life than speed like style. why not have both like harris horse power its classic its fast an even more imporantly its osf
