I could be wrong but I think there was a difference in the centre's, the diameter of the hole where the centre caps fit was different between the RS and JPS's. But they were both 5.5's

that is a bargain though mate, nice one

Sprocket is right, the Mk 2 Lotus JPS capri had 5.5J RS 4 spokes that were very similar to the Mk1 RS escort 4 spoke. The only discernable difference was the centre hole on the JPS wheel is about 63mm whereas the Escort wheel has a 70mm hole

The difference means that the Mk1 RS centre cap that pushes through from behind will not fit the JPS wheel leaving you 2 options

1) Fit Mk2 RS centre caps

2) Have the wheels centre hole machined out to suit

Unfortunately given the part number H71AB 1007AC-C that is quoted in the auction, these are definitely JPS wheels, the Escort wheel has a similar part number but is missing the extra -C at the end.

The H71AB part number denotes that H=RS, 71=year, AB= Escort

That maybe so but Ford have done plenty of odd things with part numbers over the years. A Mk1 Escort RS wheel part no is H71AB 1007AC and a Mk2 JPS Capri wheel part number is H71AB 1007AC-C. And as I have one of each side by side at home, I assure you they are different and the 2nd part no is not an Escort wheel.

If you find one of those wheels that hasn't ever been refurbished you can usually see the JPS gold paint on them, and that alone is a dead give away.

They are however both 5.5J x 13" and any competent machine shop can modify the JPS wheels to fit the Mk1 RS centre caps.

Look like JPS capri wheels to me. Thicker raised edge around the triangular open sections between the main spokes. I would say probably harder to find than RS 4-spokes. Definatly a bargain, if you ever want to sell them on again drop me a line please :wink:

That looks like a good deal! :D

Before you do anything with them though make sure they are actually round, bought used alloy wheels before and got caught out
