good tunes on the stereo, sun is shining, you are really enjoying driving and loving your osf

and then you hear an ominous creak from something that sounds like it's about to snap

had this last night

my escort is about to lunch it's 6th clutch cable I think

Stuart mate, they don't just snap!! Something else must be amiss! Maybe close to the exhaust or something?

it is close but there is a gap and it's got heat shield on the cable

i'm inclined to think it's the angle it's going in (or as banarama suggested maybe it's not totally smooth where it's going through)

Tell me about it! took the Mk3 in for MOT yesterday, usually i and out with no problems, but, the rear half-shaft seal had leaked over the brake shoes, got a plan for that sorted except that the locking wheel nut adaptor had dissappeared, then it wouldn't start! checked out all the electrics and seems to be a dead ECU, not a good day  :x  :banghead:

Sorry to hear that Malcolm, do you think you;ll get it sorted in time for the thing you're going to this weekend? Or is the mk5 on standby

It wouldn't have been finished for the weekend, my plan was to use the estate, but, started it up to find a blowing exhaust and something is rattling underneath, guess the weekend is not to be! will spend it underneath the estate instead  :-(

I wonder if an extra piece of heat shielding there where it runs closest to the manifold, would help.

I reckon the heat might be creeping to the bend at the pedal end of it.
