My life was a lot simpler then and I'm feeling nostalgic this afternoon!

The 80's are typically remembered for big hair, perms, Maggie Thatcher, Miner's strike and bad dress sense, but the tunes were great, well most of them anyway.

God knows why some of them will embed and others won't!

And at night you could tell if it was Old Bill behind you by the shape of thir headlights :ykt:

That's the truth  8)

Also remember looking in the rear view mirror at halogen round headlights with their hour glass blackspot. MK2 Mexico's, & Sports wern't distinguishable to a MK1 Golf as they used similar 7" H4's so you never knew what you was racing lol  :mrgreen:

Which brings me onto a little story;

I was driving home one night in a 2.0 Pinto MK2 that was still badged as a 1.6 from the previous crossflow that was fitted. So I got to the bottom of a steep hill (two lanes up) and took a good run up flat out, flying up the outside lane. When I got to the top of the hill I had a MK3 Escort catch me up and sat up my arse! (now this was the time when XR3 & I's were the choice of yuppy types who thought they had the fastest car on the planet), so I decided to nail the MK2  :ykt:  So I pulled away from the MK3 and slowed down, next thing its up my arse again  :? This happened a couple of more times, and I was thinking to myself "how many times do you need to be beat mate?!?!?"

Anyway on the last time I accelerated away, a blue flashing light appeared on the MK3 dash! Oh fcuckit  :banghead:

So I pulled over and got out. The MK3 was actually a 1.6L that the Hertfordshire Police used back then with just a small "Police" decal on the doors! The first thing the copper said to me was "is that a standard 1.6?" I replied ehhh, its actually a modified 2.0ltr I said. So these two coppers were drawling all over my car lol. After looking under the bonnet etc. they said, very nice car, just slow down and keep it that way, and let me off  8)

I knew my headlights, but I still got into trouble! Well nearly lol ;)

I was born 71 so the 80s played a big part of my life. Still got the shoulder pads to prove it. I can remember me and the wife seeing every metal band going. Don't know how to post vids but I do love the cult, sanctuary probably one of two the greatest rock songs ever, the other is stay with me by the faces.
