Tall paul Posted January 24, 2014 Report Posted January 24, 2014 So about time they only let pre 1989 cars into the show area, was getting abit bored of all the focus RS's and mondeos there, it was turning into ford fair in my opinion. Looking forward to it even more now. 6
dalmarshall Posted January 24, 2014 Report Posted January 24, 2014 Good news that is, more room for proper cars..............It had to be done before it ended up with a wall of blue RS Focii 2
aardvark101 Posted January 24, 2014 Report Posted January 24, 2014 I think the clue is in the title..."Classic" Ford show, if i wanted to look at Fookarse Rs i would go down Tesco,s carpark and watch the mums tryin to park em 3
XjamesX Posted January 24, 2014 Report Posted January 24, 2014 That's great news (if they enforce it!) 89 is still too new for my liking (I think the cut off on Old Skool Ford is bang on) but it's still an epic improvement on all the crap that was there last year. Definitely looking forward to it a lot more now
crapichris Posted January 24, 2014 Report Posted January 24, 2014 excellent. Haven't been for a few years as there were too many Frauds (not Fords) there. Will make a concerted effort to attend now. As one other said earlier "if you wanted to see Focii you would go to Ford Fair". And that's another show I won't go to any more despite attending the early shows when it first started. There is something about the atmosphere at a modern ford show - or am I getting old? 1
Tall paul Posted January 24, 2014 Author Report Posted January 24, 2014 I stopped going ford fair in 2003 (went every year since 93) cause of it, went in 2009 to see if it had changed but nope, it got worse! Haven't been since. So going on people's comments here sounds like they have made a good decision.
sidpf1972 Posted January 24, 2014 Report Posted January 24, 2014 some people have the pleasure of owning a old escort and a new future classic rs focus, I think the biggest problem with some ford shows are peoples negative thoughts and comments,to something other than another mk1 or mk2 escort. 2
RossMK2 Posted January 24, 2014 Report Posted January 24, 2014 Thanks god for that last year, i saw all the mondeos and focus's and it really annoyed me.... People put the heart, soul and hard earned cash into building, restoring and modifing there dream car and the you have the possiblity of a mondeo or focus pulling up the side of you, at a classic ford show???? Not right really.... As for ford fair i go for the day out, and the social side. Plus to support the club and help keep classics there. I know its for all fords and I am into my modern stuff aswell (owning a fiesta limited edition metal and have just ordered my new fiesta st) but i must admit the are to many chavs playing there music way to loud an classing there car as built and modified cause they have changed there badges, I pesonnaly think ford fair needs a shape up and needs more strict rules, when it first went to silverstone i thought it was a great day but as much i still enjoy it, it could be made so so much better. 1
PCOE Posted January 25, 2014 Report Posted January 25, 2014 About time.... Classic ford should be for classic fords Focus mondeos cougar puma fiesta etc should stick to their own shows not to mention supermarket car parks 1
mk2 mike Posted January 25, 2014 Report Posted January 25, 2014 Great news. No true oldskooler wants to see those plastic focus pieces of shite at a 'classic ' show. I agree though I still think 89 is a bit late but its a step in the right direction. Those who want to see new cars can go to max power show or some other equally chavvy show. (Or Tescos car park lol) 1
Admin Vista Posted January 25, 2014 Admin Report Posted January 25, 2014 Where has this been announced then?
sidpf1972 Posted January 25, 2014 Report Posted January 25, 2014 I think classic ford should be for classic fords,as dvla state pre 73 cars are classed and taxed as classic cars.so if you pay for rd tax then your car is to new, what a refreshing change to see corsairs,anglias,zephrs,pilots,100es,zodiacs instead of thousands of MK2 ESCORTS
5tox Posted January 25, 2014 Report Posted January 25, 2014 personally i dont mind seeing the mondeo's focus's etc... but maybe thats just me showing my age, admittedly though at 'classic' ford they should be in the car park where people can go take a look if they chose to the only cars on show should be classics 1
Tom E Cropp Posted January 25, 2014 Report Posted January 25, 2014 I'm with you on that 5tox, I like the new stuff too, but if I'm going to a classic ford show I'm going because I want to see classics, I'm not against people with newer cars coming what so ever just they should be in the car park & the classics should take the centre stage! 1
skeeter Posted January 25, 2014 Report Posted January 25, 2014 As a counterpoint, for people born in the 1990's the mondeo/focus is THEIR classic, mk 1 escorts are museum pieces. I think it is a little narrow to define classic by age, if so surely it would be better to call it the "very old Ford show". As a petrolhead I consider the mk1 Focus RS and indeed to mk2 Focus RS as classic cars, they are exemplars of the brand and provide welcome relief to the humdrum cars that make up 95% of all cars on the road. S
Chris standage Posted January 25, 2014 Report Posted January 25, 2014 No problem with what you just said there skeeter about the 1990s, but i was born in 1990 and i personally class mondeos and focus's as modern cars, there not classics to me, but then maybe me acting like an old git some time might be the case there haha. 1
sidpf1972 Posted January 25, 2014 Report Posted January 25, 2014 I think skeeter and stox both have the right attitude to this forum imo
popeye Posted January 25, 2014 Report Posted January 25, 2014 CLASSIC FORD SHOW It's all in the title. But having said that, I like to see the RS boys / toys at shows.....I know a few of this group with excellent motors, they spend just as much time and effort , if not more on there toys as we do on ours... fair play to them. 2
gearbox100 Posted January 25, 2014 Report Posted January 25, 2014 I went to classic ford show last year for the first time and tbh wasn't to bothered by the Mondeo or focus cars on display, the bigger the show the better I thought. I like cars , but prefer classics but stopped and looked at the focus rs's just out of interest . Maybe I went to the wrong show, ford fair might be better for me?
sidpf1972 Posted January 25, 2014 Report Posted January 25, 2014 maybe unless you were born before the 80s you shouldn't be allowed in
gearbox100 Posted January 25, 2014 Report Posted January 25, 2014 I was born 1973 lol, the same age has my escort . Its a car show , the more people the better, if you don't like someone's car then don't look at it no one is making you. I walked around for hours and found the cars I wanted to see , some old skool some not .If they kick out all the modern 'classics' will the show be so well attended and dwindle down then not be financially viably ? 3
sidpf1972 Posted January 25, 2014 Report Posted January 25, 2014 the more cars the better the more people the better
over_head_cam Posted January 25, 2014 Report Posted January 25, 2014 Classic status belongs to a lot of old Fords now. I don't mind a mk3 escort or sierra. As long as they don't end up near our stand we're all good lol. As far as I can see a focus has no business being at CFS 8
irishtorag Posted January 25, 2014 Report Posted January 25, 2014 Well I might as well put my twopence worth now I think if larger ford shows were to put newer classic fords to one area or show and clasics to another side maybe modified fords in centre that way its and all ford show I went to Vauxhal/opel show in billing and it catered for ALL of the brand all kadets in an area vivas vectras etc.then highly modded yokes in different display area Have to say it made a refreshing change to attend an all marque show 2
mk2 v6 Posted January 25, 2014 Report Posted January 25, 2014 I think 1989 isn't a bad cut of date, as my son was born in 1995, so these are classics to him. As many of us old gits have children of that age that attend classic ford with us they should be included, but Maybey an area of there own to please all.
