Big Blue Posted February 15, 2014 Report Posted February 15, 2014 I have just joined the forum and thought I would introduce myself. Have always been around hot rods, fords and various 'hobby' cars. Hope to get to a few shows and meets this year and see some other great old skool cars. Thought I would add a couple of snaps of my Mk1 Escort and a few of my man cave toys I have floating about. Neil.

Big Blue Posted February 15, 2014 Author Report Posted February 15, 2014 Hello and welcome to OSF big blue I don't know where you are in Essex but we have a monthly meet in brentwood at the eagle pub we would love to see the car if you can come down see ya out there mate. Thanks mate. I am only up the road in Shenfield and often pop for a drink at the Eagle (without a car!). I will definitely be down once the weather finally gets better to that meet. I will also be at Battlesbridge and I do drag race another toy at North Weald in the summer, so hope to put a face to the name mate. Cheers.
Big Blue Posted February 15, 2014 Author Report Posted February 15, 2014 Welcome to osf love the escort lad Cheers fella. I work a week a month in Ireland at the moment, mainly Dublin and Cork way, I would love to get the Escort out there one day, but that would be one long drive in a car with a full race spec engine and transmission!

irishtorag Posted February 15, 2014 Report Posted February 15, 2014 Jesus man the amount of great runs the IEC have per year in different parts of Ireland is unreal and the lads would welcome you with open arms I have mate that drives a race spec sunbeam on the runs it featured in retro cars last year Some of the runs incorporate rally stages like molls gap and a few other
Big Blue Posted February 15, 2014 Author Report Posted February 15, 2014 Jesus man the amount of great runs the IEC have per year in different parts of Ireland is unreal and the lads would welcome you with open arms I have mate that drives a race spec sunbeam on the runs it featured in retro cars last year Some of the runs incorporate rally stages like molls gap and a few other I have got to get involved in doing some f that one of these days. I know the Escort following in Ireland is unreal. My Wife is Irish so would not need much persuading to make a permanent move back! The car actually drives lovely on the street. It has a 1700 xflow, with twin 45s and I have just changed the cam to a more streetable high torque profile and re set her up. Also has a quaife diff and straight cut 5 speed. Car is not slow!

Big Blue Posted February 18, 2014 Author Report Posted February 18, 2014 Hi Big Blue your mk1 looks great in its new paintwork ,did you have any thoughts about keeping the Status Quo paintwork . Its funny as i was thinking about this car recently and was gonna post a "where is the status quo mk1" . Hi. When I bought the car my pal had already repainted the shell and changed out the bonnet as you see in the pictures, so it was not something I had a hand in myself. I then spent some time resolving a few things that needed doing mechaincally to my taste: changed out the cam and redid the timing to make it more street friendly, resolved a couple of oil leaks, etc. Basically I bought the car because I love it, though I am sure Quo fans would not approve and I get that. However for me I am happy! 1
