RossMK2 Posted April 6, 2014 Report Posted April 6, 2014 Carcoons/capsules/bubbles, What have you got and which is best make to get, just been looking a one by carcapsule for the escort and it is £285 which seems pretty good price? Fed up of microblisering caused by my extremely damp garage...
V8escort Posted April 7, 2014 Report Posted April 7, 2014 Have a mk2 fiesta in a carcoon it's is stored in a very dusty workshop and inside the car is immaculate not a spec of dust on it . They are worth the money 1
LGreen Posted April 16, 2014 Report Posted April 16, 2014 my dad has one from carcoon which was over £300. Ive since shipped two over from china (£100 each) and they do the job just as well but dont haev the battery drip feed charger. very good products all of them and do work well. 1
Admin Vista Posted April 16, 2014 Admin Report Posted April 16, 2014 £300 for a big plastic bag?? You don't get micro blister just from a damp garage Ross, it's primarily caused by excess moisture in the paint when spraying. Get some air bricks fitted to the garage and get it out and use it more often rather than stuffing the car in a bag. The latter will just discourage you from using it even more as it will become a chore to get it in and out. 1

In my case Scott it is almost certainly down to damp as it has done in some other areas since. I have also since been looking into it and the storage I have is said to cause it. For example concrete floors and walls which not only get very cold but hold water which when the weather starts to warm up causes excessive condensation which contains salt from concrete. Also when it rain the floor gets large puddles due to the water running of all the higher ground around the garage Been having my Escort out all winter even between Christmas and new year. I have done a lot of searching on the internet and the only way people have been able to stop it happening online is by getting one of these bubble storage things. Would a dehumidifier be any good? unfortunately not in my case mate
Moderator Rally Pack 2000 Posted April 18, 2014 Moderator Report Posted April 18, 2014 What do these capsule things look like?
mk2 mike Posted April 18, 2014 Report Posted April 18, 2014 I agree with Scott mate, I think it'll put you off just popping put in it when you feel in the mood. Its enough of a faf to take the cover on/off mine never mind those bubble things. I'd say your better off saving the £300 and getting the paint rubbed down and repainted. I've got the same problem with my wing tops and pillars.

But I cant keep throwing money at it and being scared every time I enter the garage in case it has happened again. The reason the problem has only really come to light this year is due to the non stop rain. Which the concrete absorbed up like a straw.
mr zefect Posted April 20, 2014 Report Posted April 20, 2014 If your geting microblisters then its due to poor prep and crap paint/primer water and oil in the air line also if the primer has been wet flated its porous so it will soak up the water thats why we only dry flat now days.
pnwrs2000 Posted April 29, 2014 Report Posted April 29, 2014 Put the 300 dabs towards dry lining, insulating and venting your garage. That way you can drive your car when you want but also tinker with it without getting wet or damaging the carcoon
