CF show Marshall's/staff

Recommended Posts

Its not hard to organise the mass exit

1 lane out of public car parks

1 lane out for the show cars

where the public cars join the main lane out do 30 cars of the field then 30 cars down the road and just keep repeating to everyones gone !

show car lane you must still  have your stand pass on display or your moved over to public lane

Brilliant show ruined by amateurs playing at traffic controllers .

The thing is the attitude of the ''Marshals'' isnt a new thing its been the same for years (25 years at least) ive had many a run in with them with there ive got a black puffa jacket n radio and there lack of respect for the paying publc is unreal and thats why i havnt bothered with the CF show for a couple of years now and it never gets any better as Santa Pod has the we are the best attitude but there not its always overpriced and allways problems getting in or out that surely by now should have been sorted , if we/you didnt show the cars they wouldnt have a big show still nothing will change and next year this will probably be discussed again ........Just my opinion .

Hey,

Sorry on press deadline this week so can't respond to individual comments at the moment but below is from the organisers.

Thanks,

Simon

"Thanks to all who visited Sunday's Classic Ford Show and helped make it such a great day. We'd like to apologise straight away for the queues into and out of Santa Pod - partly this was down to ground conditions restricting some car park access. We hire the venue from Santa Pod's owners and organise the show, but they are responsible for the traffic marshaling into and out of the show. Suffice to say, we're going to be talking to them about improving this ourselves next year. Apologies again to those who had a long wait on a hot day."  The Classic Ford Show team

Thank you for taking the time to respond Simon.

I think it is universally understood that the problem lay with the venue's staff and not with Futurenet / the Classic Ford organisation, but you guys are the only ones suitably placed to get them to sort it out. Or is it maybe the case that Classic Ford Show has outgrown the Pod as a venue? Some people missed half the show queuing to get in, that's a pretty expensive way to waste your entrance fee and travelling costs.

Other than the access issues it was a great show blessed with sunshine and blue sky. I enjoyed the day

Future want to take the access and parking management out of the Pod's (or at least their contractor's) hands, but up until now they have been unwilling to do this. Maybe this year's mess might make them reconsider. :-(

Shame as its a great show once your in, perhaps Silverstone would be a better venue ?

Also worth asking, 25 year cut off, but still focuses and mondeo's on show, and on the strip? It's a shame as I can't be doing with walking round all the modern stuff and row upon row of mk3 escorts that it meant I missed a lot of classics (see them leaving and thinking I never saw that). Is it not possible to put all the other real "classic" ford clubs as close to grandstand (nearest the old Skool ford) as possible?

Great show as per usual but shame about the organisation on santa pods end of things. If anything all the show cars should be let out first. We all have to pay to get in too, and without the display cars there would be no show at all.

Mk3 Escorts are a bonafide classic car now though James, the oldest of them are over 30 years old now. They may not be what we focus on but you can't argue that they don't have a place at CF Show. As to the more modern stuff, I thought it was very greatly reduced this year compared to previous years and the show was better for it.

Nice thought but i cant see it happening , as i said in my previous post its been the same for well ever !! its all about the pound and keeping it in house surely the organisers of the big shows be it Ford , VW , etc mentioned they may take the ''goose that lays the golden pound'' to another venue then they might start to take the paying public/show participants seriously and be more professional in all the aspects listed in this thread ........Good luck with your negotiations hopefully a change for the better ...

Oh yeah mate I agree it was alot better than previous years. Tbh my opinion on cars like mk3 escorts is that the whole reason most of us started buying classic ford mag (in fact the reason there was a need for Ford Heritage / Classic Ford Mag) is that magazines like Fast Ford were full of things like Mk3 escorts, sierras, later model fez's etc, but we didn't wanna see them, we wanted to see the models we assoicate as classics here. Tbh I don't know why there isn't more focus in the mag on stuff like 103e's, rods etc rather than moving towards stuff like orions! That said I don't really have a problem with them being there, it just means i miss alot of nice cars hidden inbetween them and I know from speaking to others that alot of people either quickly skim through that section (like I did) or don't bother at all. Is obviously a completely different debate but I don't think once something reaches a certain age it becomes a classic, but thats just me :):ykt:

Been going to CF @ pod for as long as i can remember and this year was by far the best for me, was definitely more classics this year and less plastic

Unfortunately getting in and out of pod is a problem full stop no matter what show you go to, try getting out of bug jam lol ..... nightmare

my only complaint was camping a million miles away from anything, walking back half cut was a challenge

Getting in was easy.... arrived @ Saturday morning 10.30 am.

Out was easy to... left Santapod @ Sunday evening 19.00 pm with ease..

Got max out of Classic Ford Show..

Made it home Monday evening 21.00 pm continental time.....

OSF Dutch chapter bill be back next year for sure.

btw, we took the marshals for what they where... they didn't understand us anyway talking in our own language.....

Its not only at CFS they are worth nothing...... was there also the weekend before at the FIA dragraces and experienced the same.

I take it for what it is and let it not spoil my day.

Well, easy and hard. Hard in that we decided to abandon the car in a nearby village and walk in. The sat-nav lied and said it was only 1.7 miles, but it was over 4!  But easy in that the entrance is geared towards cars and no-one checked our tickets, so we could have got in free.

I go to pod quite a few times a year for shows and events, classic ford is always a huge show and we queued for around hour and half to get out from show area last year which I thought was bad as they let all the public parking go first but this year we were in public parking and sat in field for ages and marshals let everyone else out until a few people went and complained and we we're let out about 5 cars at a time but still a complete joke .

Getting in was same as huge queues with no movements

This will put people off for sure !!

They need to widen the access road and make it 2 lanes each side all the way up to the track, as you pay to come in and out its complete bottle neck.

Maybe think about another exit aswell if possible.

I was dissapointed that Rallydesign and Burtons werent there.

Hadnt been for a couple of years but didnt seem as exciting as the previous years.

But it was nice to see Kjs runs
