jamie956 Posted June 11, 2014 Report Posted June 11, 2014 Whats a 200 pinto block worth? 200 is from a 4x4 cosworth, depending on condition £500 to £1000 the latter being mint with std bores and deck.
HotRodMatt Posted June 11, 2014 Report Posted June 11, 2014 Was the 200 block not the forerunner to the 205 block? So could be an early Pinto from a Cortina?
Danish Posted June 11, 2014 Report Posted June 11, 2014 Was the 200 block not the forerunner to the 205 block? So could be an early Pinto from a Cortina? AFAIK, Cortinas had the "20" block.
HotRodMatt Posted June 11, 2014 Report Posted June 11, 2014 Ah, I see. Thanks for that, got a bit mixed up!
Admin Vista Posted June 12, 2014 Admin Report Posted June 12, 2014 AFAIK, Cortinas had the "20" block. All the early engines were 20 blocks, mk1 Escort, mk2 Escort, Cortina etc
Danish Posted June 12, 2014 Report Posted June 12, 2014 Ah, so instead of slinging that dodgy Cortina 2.0 block in a skip I should have ebay'd it described as "RS2000 engine block - very rare" ?
Admin Vista Posted June 12, 2014 Admin Report Posted June 12, 2014 Actually you shouldn't have chucked it at all, I think it's only the early 2.0 blocks that are eligible for historic motorsport events so they're always worth something to someone
Danish Posted June 12, 2014 Report Posted June 12, 2014 I didn't think of that. I bought it cheap as a bitzer - a 20 block with 202 transit pistons & rods - I wanted the low compression pistons
HotRodMatt Posted June 12, 2014 Report Posted June 12, 2014 Never bin any old Ford stuff, there's always someone who can use it.
Danish Posted June 12, 2014 Report Posted June 12, 2014 Never bin any old Ford stuff, there's always someone who can use it. Apparently. In the past I've advertised stuff on other forums and had a stream of people saying if only I was closer they'd collect - like we're in the back of beyond and not 90 minutes from Birmingham and 2 hours from London.
HotRodMatt Posted June 12, 2014 Report Posted June 12, 2014 Shame. And they can't be arsed sorting a courier...
CortinaLover1971 Posted June 12, 2014 Report Posted June 12, 2014 I found a load of MkV Cortina gear a few weeks ago in the garage I forgot I had. Crusader bits, window set, winder mechanism, boot spoiler, quarter windows, wing mirrors etc ...nearly skipped it all but thought better of it. Going to clean it all off and eBay it.

Cowen99 Posted June 15, 2014 Author Report Posted June 15, 2014 So the 200 block I have is worth a bit of money and not £100 that someone offered me? I will post photos up tomorrow for you guys to see and let me know what you think
john_3.0s Posted June 16, 2014 Report Posted June 16, 2014 depends on the condition, and if its been bored / decked etc beyond practical use. If you want top money measure it up so people know the bore sizes and deck height. if its usable you will get it sold no bother. 'virgin' 200 blocks are fetching 500 ish a piece now days as they are hard to come by
