Muzzman Posted July 30, 2014 Report Posted July 30, 2014 Since getting my OSF I wash my clothes and shower more regularly due to absolutely stinking of petrol. Is this one of the joys of classic motoring?
aardvark101 Posted July 30, 2014 Report Posted July 30, 2014 Lol, tell me about it, i got a side exit exhaust, im sure it all just comes back through the window, better now i got the Ztec it uses a lot more of the fuel than the Crosser did.
Admin Vista Posted July 30, 2014 Admin Report Posted July 30, 2014 Is this from working on it or just from being in it? If the former, yes. If the latter, no.
Muzzman Posted July 30, 2014 Author Report Posted July 30, 2014 Aardvark, my xflow does about 5mpg. Vista, former, no. Latter, yes.....err that's transposed I think we might be onto something here...
Admin Vista Posted July 30, 2014 Admin Report Posted July 30, 2014 If you end up stinking of fuel from driving it, check your tank vent leads outside the car also that the filler neck rubber is in good nick
deltamal Posted July 31, 2014 Report Posted July 31, 2014 My car used to be petrol smelly after putting braided fuel lines throughout, cured it by removing them and replacing with Teflon lined ones, a bit expensive but worth it!
mk2 mike Posted July 31, 2014 Report Posted July 31, 2014 My car reeks of fuel inside when I'm driving it too.
aardvark101 Posted July 31, 2014 Report Posted July 31, 2014 TBH i think my issues came from 45 webbers with no filters and the crosser not burning all the fuel it was getting, ahh the smell of nostalgia. 1
mk2 mike Posted July 31, 2014 Report Posted July 31, 2014 Could be the reason why mine smell. I've got no filters on my 45s either.
GJUK Posted August 1, 2014 Report Posted August 1, 2014 nope but then I have solid fuel lines running inside the car and new vent/fuel filler pipe.
texr2000 Posted August 1, 2014 Report Posted August 1, 2014 being Deaf and smelling of petrol is just part of the experience of driving my escort
theloudboy Posted August 2, 2014 Report Posted August 2, 2014 I've got no filters on my twin 50s my car don't smell of petrol if your car does you need to check now why it does 1
aardvark101 Posted August 2, 2014 Report Posted August 2, 2014 Your just immune to the smell mate, its like farmers innit
over_head_cam Posted August 3, 2014 Report Posted August 3, 2014 Fix it, make it right! There is always an 'aroma' of petrol (I like it) but that's all it should be
Admin Vista Posted August 3, 2014 Admin Report Posted August 3, 2014 I've got no filters on my twin 50s my car don't smell of petrol if your car does you need to check now why it does Agreed, no filters on mine either yet no smell of petrol
theloudboy Posted August 5, 2014 Report Posted August 5, 2014 Aardvark paul I smell more petrol when I full my car up than when I deliver the stuff and there is no way I would want to be smelling that crap with all the chemicals they put in it.
Daz105e Posted August 6, 2014 Report Posted August 6, 2014 i get no smells of fuel when driving, only the heat transfered through the floor
aardvark101 Posted August 7, 2014 Report Posted August 7, 2014 I wouldn't worry about the hot floorpan too much Daz, as soon as it rains and the screen leaks, your feet will cool off nicely
Chris standage Posted August 7, 2014 Report Posted August 7, 2014 The amount of fuel that i smell each day at work I'm use to it now, Petrol, diesel, jet fuel, fuel vapours everywhere, i can no longer really smell small amounts of fuel.
Daz105e Posted August 9, 2014 Report Posted August 9, 2014 I wouldn't worry about the hot floorpan too much Daz, as soon as it rains and the screen leaks, your feet will cool off nicely still no leaks dude just warm feet lol
