seaneylad Posted November 10, 2014 Report Posted November 10, 2014 did a little search online a few things popped up on turbosport.Where is the best location for a towing eye on the front and back of a mk1 escort Ive seem some rings, some materiel style loops etc.Dont need anything heavy duty etc, just a location to add a ring etc just incase the car needs pullingThanks all

Admin Vista Posted November 11, 2014 Admin Report Posted November 11, 2014 Read the thread in the link under my signature. Somewhere in the early to mid part of it are pics of my towing eye fabricated around the central anti roll bar mount 1
4-Door Pete Posted November 12, 2014 Report Posted November 12, 2014 On the front of my Mk1 Cortina I have used a tow strap bolted to the chassis leg where the bumper iron would be bolted as I don't have a front bumper. I assume you could do the same for an Escort. If you use a longer bolt I'm sure you could keep the bumper in place. 1
mk1estate Posted November 12, 2014 Report Posted November 12, 2014 we used the strap type one as when not in use it can be tucked through the bumper hole in the front panel so its out the way. I assume its for a road going car as anything that sticks out will get a MOT fail 1
Danish Posted November 12, 2014 Report Posted November 12, 2014 What are the MOT regs on that, some modern cars have a tow eye which protrudes from the valence?
seaneylad Posted November 13, 2014 Author Report Posted November 13, 2014 Thanksall iI'll take a closer look and go forr strap type
GJUK Posted November 18, 2014 Report Posted November 18, 2014 I had one made from the anti roll bar bracket, Very strong, kind of period to the car rather than a big flappy strap hanging down.

May go down this route to be honest its only for the odd track day here and there. Cheers Im not keen on the straps looks wise, so if i do go down the strap route ill take it off for normal road use, they look abit daft lol
