mk2 mike
Rich mk2 owners? Tom (whoever he is ) is Talking out of his arse. Clearly another person without enough intelligence to understand the club rules. Tom, if you're reading this go and take your mk1 and join a vw golf forum and see what the reaction is! I wonder if they'll print an official reply from OSF explaining the club rules (again)? Oh and Dave; P100? Get out....

They (RF) are staying silent when the error of their ways is pointed out to them via Twitter but I will respond formally directly to their editor. mk2 mike
Be interesting to see what they say Scott. That letter has really got my back up for some reason. Not sure if it's the letter itself whinging to a mag or the mag for printing it! I won't be reading RF again that's for sure.

accord83
I find the letter tinged with bitterness, and possibly misguided envy. The OldSkoolFord has long been known for it's cut off date, 10yrs. I owned a Rover V8 and was a member of the Rover P6 club, the P6 stopped production in1976, if someone had tried to join and then claim the club would have to include Rover 200's as that was a natural progression, they would probably been told to FIFO (in a genteel manner). Yes all people, especially younger ones, should be encouraged to follow the "Classic car hobby" but join the relevant clubs to which ever car they start with, and the follow their car aspirations and desires as they can afford them. It's what most of us have done, I couldn't afford my Mk1 Escort if it hadn't been in the family over 20yrs.
Lightweightsteve
I agree Vista and others, I had a GT6, I joined TSSC, I had an RS1600i, I joined Seriesoneturbo, I have a Mk1 and I joined OSF - surely it makes sense to join a forum specific to you car, doesn't it? It also really winds me up when people cast off rwd Escort owners as rich, middle aged men - we'd all love a YB or Millington Diamond in our cars or to spend a fortune on a bare metal rebuild, but it's taken me years of buying, loving, fettling and eventually selling my cars to work up to what I have and it's currently taking blood sweat and tears to make it better. Most of the owners I've met in the scene too have worked their nuts off for their cars. Rich, I don't think so. Middle-aged, in body only!
seaneylad
I'm in my twentys and bought a mk1 escort in my budget, will never be a show piece as it's all down to cost .. I'm just happy to own own and do my bit to it. There's always a bigger and better car. Most people see to me don't I miss the power from previous cars which I don't the escorts just more fun overall

Vista
is tom McGowan on here then ?? Not under that name nor with an email address that uses that surname. We do have a McGowan but he's down near me and doesn't answer the description that guy has given of himself. I wouldn't want a witch hunt after the guy anyway as that would just add credibility to his statement.

SmokeEm
Do you know what Mike. I personally am sick of your bleating. I offer my resignation on this site as long as you and your IP address are deleted forever. We shun no-one except trouble making twats like you! To the average member... You insist on sending provocative PM's to other members and your posts are edited, or deleted, when you deliberately set out to wind people up. You have been banned once for it and came straight back with false email addresses, more pseudonyms and multiple accounts. Threatening language, please by all means publish my PM's. Without changing them, there was nothing threatening about any of them. How many more chances would you like? We have tolerated you for long enough and I have been resisting requests from other admin, mods and members to ban you again for some time. I suggest you go and find another forum, good luck finding one that will tolerate you as long as we have.
