bigbadsquare Posted January 12, 2015 Report Posted January 12, 2015 Anyone else get this , I have to put my mk2 escort back together and just can't bring myself to do it, definate love hate relationship with these cars !!!
Admin Vista Posted January 12, 2015 Admin Report Posted January 12, 2015 I had it a few times when putting my van together but positive feedback in my build thread on here kept me encouraged
Admin Mk2Jo Posted January 12, 2015 Admin Report Posted January 12, 2015 My RS was off the road for about 3 years ... it was easier to just leave it tucked up in my garage rather than get the niggly bits sorted and get it back on the road .... I get plenty of shit from my mates on OSF about it being an imaginary car as it hadn't been seen for so long and about it being a barn find (feckers lol 1
eeb43 Posted January 12, 2015 Report Posted January 12, 2015 get off here get out in the shed and get on with it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The Transplanter Posted January 12, 2015 Report Posted January 12, 2015 Anyone else get this , I have to put my mk2 escort back together and just can't bring myself to do it, definate love hate relationship with these cars !!! I always find that if you have a break from doing something for any period of time its difficult to get back into it. I find it easier to keep motivated by buying all the bits you need before I start a project, and get it started and finished in weeks rather than years
SmokeEm Posted January 12, 2015 Report Posted January 12, 2015 I currently am building a Non OSF but it's still a Ford. Mojo lost? Yes definitely but there are a few on here keeping me going. It is surprising how having a cyber friend keeps you going sometimes. 1
GJUK Posted January 12, 2015 Report Posted January 12, 2015 I think its quite normal. Been there a lot with the escort.
RossMK2 Posted January 12, 2015 Report Posted January 12, 2015 I have times like this, often when something has gone wrong and i lose confidence in my work and car, I get stressed, have to ask questions about things i really know the answer too to make sure and struggle to get motivated to even open the garage door. Personally i find getting up early in morning getting out and cracking on the best way. Then you can look at a complete days work and see what you have acheived which normally motivates me to carry on.
D-FENS Posted January 12, 2015 Report Posted January 12, 2015 I have a hate hate thing goin on with my OSF . 1
GJUK Posted January 12, 2015 Report Posted January 12, 2015 Take a break, best thing I did when I was going to sell it up... Walk away and go and get some inspiration from a car show or similar. 3
Tom E Cropp Posted January 13, 2015 Report Posted January 13, 2015 I get this problem when I have to go to work.... 1
mk2 mike Posted January 13, 2015 Report Posted January 13, 2015 Been there done that. Got sick of things breaking and needing fixing. Thought about selling many many times (in fact I started a similar thread a while back although I can't find it now). Then I went out for a drive and instantly changed my mind. Now I can't wait to re tax it after the winter and get out in it! Keep at it mate, you'll be grinning ear to ear when it's finished.
HotRodMatt Posted January 13, 2015 Report Posted January 13, 2015 I'd be surprised if anyone on here hasn't had a loss of mojo at some point (no doubt someone will be along to say they haven't but they lie LOL) and I find the best way to get pumped back up is to spend the day at a car show or race track or just spending a couple of hours youtubing Fords or aussie burnouts or whatever.
Danish Posted January 13, 2015 Report Posted January 13, 2015 Personally i find getting up early in morning getting out and cracking on the best way. That works for me. Also mid-week I try to do "just half an hour" on an evening, and manage to get on with things. Usually it's more than half an hour though.
Tackleberry Posted January 13, 2015 Report Posted January 13, 2015 Just think, we're over that line...xmas and new year gone, easter next, that's when the shows start....so get back on it, get it done and show it off.
Savvi Posted January 13, 2015 Report Posted January 13, 2015 Im the same .......... stripped my Nimbus last year with plenty of time to get it ready for this years shows, ended up paying someone to help me sort the bodywork out, but now run out of funds so its sat looking sorry for itself ......... been over a few time with intentions of doing it but ended up leaving and doing something else !!!
eeb43 Posted January 13, 2015 Report Posted January 13, 2015 you need to have at least 3 projects on the go at a time get fed up with one and have a go at another!!!!!!!!!!!!!
irishtorag Posted January 13, 2015 Report Posted January 13, 2015 lost mojo many times took 4 years but every run makes the graft worth while when I look out the door and see the snow now im dying to go for a blast but I know I wont even make the main road without hitting a ditch :0)
bigbadsquare Posted January 13, 2015 Author Report Posted January 13, 2015 The worst thing is the project I need to finish is my mk2 so I can sell it , so I can get the mk1 out of storage and work on that which I want to do. Typical really
quickrack Posted January 13, 2015 Report Posted January 13, 2015 That's a tough one. To plough time, effort etc in and then sell it. I found doing a little everyday, even only a small thing led to eventual progress and one day I was enjoying it again. Can take a while tho
bigbadsquare Posted January 14, 2015 Author Report Posted January 14, 2015 Just finished the first hour on the car in 3 weeks , not much done but at least the garage looks slightly different now , keep looking at exactly the same stuff in exactly the same place you left it weeks ago was getting me down . Thanks guys for the kind words and encouraging comments . 1
Admin Mk2Jo Posted January 14, 2015 Admin Report Posted January 14, 2015 How about you whack some pics up so we can see what you're talking about for those of us following this post
bigbadsquare Posted January 14, 2015 Author Report Posted January 14, 2015 Good idea Jo Well to bring you up to speed , got a nice mk2 1600 sport that I fitted a zetec to last year. But recently bought a mk1 and am in process of transplanting engines. This is the removed zetec All the front end stripped off, new brake lines added and 1600 xflow ready to go in the hole Tonight I fitted the gearbox and moved the engine into position to lift in. Just can't remember which way round the mounts go so left on a high. 2
