SmokeEm Posted January 20, 2015 Report Posted January 20, 2015 Couldn't afford Walls! Zoomie from the ice cream man for me. 2p back in 75/76 1
PeteRS8084 Posted January 20, 2015 Report Posted January 20, 2015 I'm from southend originally so it has to be a rossi ice cream, still have one when I go back, and you can even buy tubs of it in asda! But I did like a zoom though! 2
ianb10 Posted January 20, 2015 Report Posted January 20, 2015 Our local newsagent used to sell ice cream and it was Midland Counties, I used to love their Raspberry Ripple. Or when we went on holiday to Cornwall it was Kellies ice cream and still is today, lovely. 1
Danish Posted January 20, 2015 Report Posted January 20, 2015 If we had ice-cream (rare) we always had "Mr.Whippy" from the ice cream man, with 'monkey blood' on top. 2
The Transplanter Posted January 20, 2015 Report Posted January 20, 2015 Choc Ice, if my pocket money stretched past a 99 1

CortinaLover1971 Posted January 20, 2015 Report Posted January 20, 2015 Yep, we'd have a screwball special....had monkey blood with'bits' and an iced lolly on a stick in the top.....with the bubble gum in the bottom of the plastic cone it came in! 1
The Transplanter Posted January 21, 2015 Report Posted January 21, 2015 Choc Ice, if my pocket money stretched past a 99 Well that was until we got our first chest freezer in the 70s (my dad worked for Hoover, and I remember our neighbours storing their food in it), and Bejams opened locally. Then I got sick of the sight of the things lol
Danish Posted January 21, 2015 Report Posted January 21, 2015 Monkey blood lol ... I've not heard that one before It might be "a northern thing", and to be honest sounds pretty gross when I say it now. 1
mk2 ben Posted January 21, 2015 Report Posted January 21, 2015 I remember funny feet similar to funny faces I guess
DT36 Posted January 21, 2015 Report Posted January 21, 2015 If we had ice-cream (rare) we always had "Mr.Whippy" from the ice cream man, with 'monkey blood' on top. Monkey Blood... Haha, that's what we called it to.
Admin Mk2Jo Posted January 21, 2015 Author Admin Report Posted January 21, 2015 Is that where the "northern monkey" phrase comes from I wonder
deltamal Posted January 21, 2015 Report Posted January 21, 2015 My pocket money only used to extend to an Ice pole!

Danish Posted January 23, 2015 Report Posted January 23, 2015 Mmmmmm fabs. Had one the other day. Just as good but smaller. Or maybe you've grown taller? Some days I think I just buy a Mk1 Transit and do an ice-cream van conversion, and be the most popular person at car show camp sites
