Something drastically wrong with that, sounds like you have snapped a shaft or mashed the sun wheel.

Your going to have to start stripping to find out what's going on there I would start with the drive shaft where the noise is coming from, is it a new diff not heard good things about 3J stuff.

It`s never safe with LSD to running with one wheel at the ground.

I have a LSD plate diff , when i off the ground and in gear i can turn also one wheel , it`s gonna lock when i push the gas pedal in , becourse than the little satelite pignon are pressed to the outside`s against the plate`s and locks the diff.

You can also look on youtube Limited Slip Differential-Explained.

Have you driven it on a slippery surface ?

If both wheels are off the ground with an LSD fitted turning one wheel by hand should turn the other in the same direction.

On a non-LSD axle the opposing wheel turns in the opposite direction, well it does with a Sierra diff

Totally lost ...

I had a LSD fitted to my escort and it does not make any noise at all but it has been set up for road use maybe yours has been set up for motorsport use then the LSD makes noises but I am new to this so hopefully someone with more experience will be able to tell

Urm what you worried about?

Depends what the noise is like, whining usualy means bearings, clunk on off throttle can be pinion to crown and may be sorted with lash re done.

With most LSD's you can remove the LSD bit and bolt into another diff

it is normal for plate type lsd's to be noisy especially after a hard run. The oil gets squeezed out from between the plates. You might hear clunking or even banging which is unnerving to hear from inside the car, even when going around shallow bends.

Just do a complete oil change and do some SLOW and TIGHT left to right and right to left cornering to get the oil in between the plates again.

Highly recommend NOT to use synthetic diff oil on lsd's.

Plate type diffs are the best design for performance cars, however the trade off is the unnerving noise.
