Audicab26 Posted June 22, 2015 Report Posted June 22, 2015 Hi all, Just bought myself a low mileage MK2 Escort. For me it's a chance to re-live my distant youth. My Dad had them as company cars when I was growing up and I had a number of them when I started driving. I've had it a couple of weeks and I love it, a real treat to drive. It's completely original and I'll keep it that way - although I'm looking into fitting rear seat belts. Any advice on this welcomed, I think mine has the mountings, it's a 79 4dr Ghia made in Germany. Will post some pictures in due course.

Audicab26 Posted June 23, 2015 Author Report Posted June 23, 2015 Welcome to OSF and yes, the seat belt mounting points will be there. Can anyone recommend a suitable aftermarket inertia reel seat belt - or a suitable belt from a doner car? I read somewhere that I Fiesta belts fit - but I guess they must be rare now?

Audicab26 Posted June 23, 2015 Author Report Posted June 23, 2015 I wish I purchased this now what a great looking standard car Thank you, they listed it on Friday 29th of May and I bought it on the 31st. Just what I was looking for. They had it serviced and MOT'd and I got it the following Friday. They were great to deal with, no complaints at all, they were selling on behalf of the owner who didn't want to be involved in the selling process. I've since spoken to the previous owner who is a lovely guy, the car has a great history. They've only just marked it sold on the website - I think they leave them on to generate enquiries? 1

Audicab26 Posted June 26, 2015 Author Report Posted June 26, 2015 Thanks for the great welcom guys, and the kind comments about my car. It's lovely, I keep going to the garage just to look at it. The rear seat belts arrived today, little job for Sunday.
PeteRS8084 Posted June 27, 2015 Report Posted June 27, 2015 Believe me you will always have "little jobs for a weekend"............my washer pump worked fine on the run to classic ford, last weekend nothing..............The pump works with a direct live feed so now it's trace the fault and rectify it, god I hate electrics! 1
khanlad Posted June 27, 2015 Report Posted June 27, 2015 I keep my escort at the mother in laws, everytime we pop up to see them, i sneek into the garage to say hello to my baby! Mrs thinks its hilarious! But its not sad..........ok! 3
