Hi Everyone,

Have had this great little Escort for a couple of years, it was found in the Isle of Wight - a little gem, in good condition and has only 30,000 on the clock.

Recently having problems with it cutting out when slowing down at junctions and roundabouts !

Have changed sparkplugs/air filter.

Would be grateful for any suggestions what might be the problem  ?

Many thanks. Jan

Welcome to Old Skool Ford. You should be aware that we only cater for cars in production up to 1980 but have plenty of members who will no doubt be happy to give some technical advice.

is your car fuel injected or does it have a carb?

Hi, Oh sorry, didn't realise that my little escort was not old enough, I have attended  the days/ meetings at Battlesbridge and see a few there so wanted to join a 'club'  to find out more.

Yes it has a carb.

Hopefully someone will still have a few answers for me to try.

Thank you for any help anyone can offer.

Jan.

Yes it has a carb.

Then I suspect it's a carburation issue, either a general set up issue or something like blocked idle jets in the carb. Is there an inline fuel filter fitted? Worth checking that that isn't blocked up

Might be worth checking any vacumn pipes attached to carb vac advance to distributor/carb to block breather box also check valve is working inside and any leaks on servo pipe as these may have perished with age. Once all checked carb clean and set up mixture.Hope this helps
