Yeah something like that, no he was after a cheap car to work on, and mine fitted the bill...........well it nearly fitted I a box, he got it sorted though. There was plenty in the scrap yards back then, and it was only the bonnet, front wings, valance and slam panel...........yeah she did do a job on it. Problem was it was on an industrial estate......and she had not passed her test...........surprising how little swearing I did!

A lot of the better mk1/mk2's on the scene now have had mega money thrown at them though. I know my car has had at least £18k spent on it, not including the price I paid for it some 6 years back. I remember then, they were getting 'expensive'. hehe.

Got my mk2 escort in 1999 swapped it for £500 and a mk2 non runner with rotten shell which had some decent bits on, 2.8 billies, fishnet recaros, and a few more bits and pieces prob all worth about £500 so cost me about £1k all together. Glad I've still got it, had some good times in that car.

I had a mk1 rs2000,a mk2 rs2000 and a mk2 mexico back in the mid 90's.the mk1 rs i paid £300 with a blown engine!

got back into the escort scene after going to look at a mk1 1300gt that was mint which he brought and i brought it from him.

Just remembered the feel when driving them,you could feel everything through the steering and knew when it was going to break loose round a bend.
