i wondered what my car would look like with black and silver numberplates so i thought sod it il make one out of my old nakered tin ones...........

you can still see the yellow wer i tried to polish the metal and it took off some black :(

not to piss on the parade but there's a legal side to tin plates. there's a cutoff date [some time in the early '70's if memory serves] as to which cars can legally wear them.

looks good mate, i dont expect many coppers are aware of the 73 cut off and if they do just play ignorant :ykt:

 

BTW what colour is your car? looks nice!

 

its ford azure blue :wink: i dont think il get pulled wat copper now days could tell if it was pre 73 i see a vauxhal vectra driving around with tin plates i doubt they will pull a mk2 escort over besides im only 4 years out.

ive only been pulled for plates once in 3 years so aint too bad

 

you can buy em at the market as show plates £30 a pair

 

 

thats good enough for me. wer can i get some made up then??

 

coz i tried bennets and they said they only do tin with plastic letters and tht shit.

i got some done at blackbushe market they do square or long ones you have to take your log book yo show him and he sends em to your house 3 days later :mrgreen: im not sure if he has a web site ill see if i have an old recipt .

 

also his are pressed tin not stuck together

August 1973 is the cut off date, anything after that needs yellow on the back white on the front
