im trying to under stand how if a car has an lsd fitted its ok to test on the mot brake rollers? I understand the rollers measure each wheel brake efficiency ,so how can this work when both wheels are supposed to be "locked" together

or are they not supposed to be tested on brake rollers?

My mot station doesn't test my rears on the rollers

? ? ? ? - Hmmmm sounds dubious to me - what do they do for handbrake function............find a steep hill?  :dope:

It is possible to mot a car and not use the brake rollers, using an old school tapley meter instead, if the vehicle is 4wd, or has an lsd fitted, and you are not sure if the brake rollers will cause any damage, then this is what should be used!

In reality, most lsd,s should be ok, unless they are set very tight with lots of preload, but I always use the tapley meter anyway, to be sure of no damage.

If you advise your mot tester about its fitment, he should be ok using this method!

Wow do you guys have to put your cars on rollers to test the brakes? Here they have some handheld device that has some kind of G force measurement when you slam the brakes on from a certain speed. Your method sounds more accurate.

I'm a mot tester ,do not test LSD on brake rollers, Tapley meter test on road only, same has doing 4x4 ,later Mazda mx5 have LSD, same test tells you on information when booking on computer , both wheels rotate same way when jacked up, if damage is caused by roller brake testing garage is responsible ,owner should make tester aware when presenting car for test,
