Luckygti Posted September 6, 2015 Report Posted September 6, 2015 Hi, thought I'd better finally sign up as I'm just getting round to doing some work on my Mk 2 Escort and I'm going to need some advice. So, been into old Fords, well forever, my first car was a 1.6GL Mk 4 Cortina (it was a 79, and was 9 years old when I got it!) and I had a string of them for the next ten years. Then a whole lot more, but branching out, and although I had Fords in that time, none would have been considered a classic! And then we picked up a Mk 2 Escort as my wife and I decided it was a good time to buy (about 5 years ago now) and we got very lucky with this. It's a fully reshelled RS2000 (into a 1.3 popular shell) running a 2.1 Burton engine and a 5 speed box. It has a few other stable mates, my VW T25 has taken most of my time recently but now it's on the road the Escort is up for a bit of a refresh. I'll have plenty of questions so standby for lots! Pete
luckyjim Posted September 7, 2015 Report Posted September 7, 2015 welcome mate, your escort looks very nice. 1
mk2 mike Posted September 7, 2015 Report Posted September 7, 2015 Welcome to the site. You don't leave that on the road the whole time do you?
khanlad Posted September 7, 2015 Report Posted September 7, 2015 Welcome to osf, nice escort, could do with a few more, some of the others are getting a bit restless!!
Admin Vista Posted September 7, 2015 Admin Report Posted September 7, 2015 Welcome to osf, nice escort, could do with a few more, some of the others are getting a bit restless!! Indeed, the Anglia Owners are revolting Welcome to OSF
Luckygti Posted September 7, 2015 Author Report Posted September 7, 2015 Thanks for the warm wlecome guys, lol Mk2 Mike, as nice as an area as I live in, nope. Always garaged! I'm trying to be a bit less precious about it though so I can get more use out of it! Bit pointless otherwise. It's off the road at the moment, I'll chuck up some pictures later of why!!
colr6 Posted September 7, 2015 Report Posted September 7, 2015 Aaaaaaaahhhhhhh not another one......joking aside WELCOME to forum.
mk2 mike Posted September 7, 2015 Report Posted September 7, 2015 Phew that's a relief. Saw the crooklock and thought it was kept outdoors. Far too many going missing lately. Oh and ignore the comments from owners of 'lesser' fords. They're just jealous. [emoji106]
Luckygti Posted September 7, 2015 Author Report Posted September 7, 2015 Yep, already got the jealousy bit!! To be fair, I wish I still had my 2 door Mk V Cortina, but my wife never liked it so have to 'make do' with this I try and keep it secure but if someone is hell bent on taking it, there's a limit to what I can do. Short of getting a big dog and a gun!!
khanlad Posted September 7, 2015 Report Posted September 7, 2015 Make do!!!! What? Ive got a big dog, he sleeps a lot, and to be fair he'd probably swap the escort for a sausage, not even a posh one, sainsburys finest! Basics, gone! 2
colr6 Posted September 7, 2015 Report Posted September 7, 2015 Do what I do, sit the wife in it! NOTHING gets past her 1
Luckygti Posted September 7, 2015 Author Report Posted September 7, 2015 Lol khanlad, bit tongue in cheek there. I know how lucky I am!
Admin Vista Posted September 7, 2015 Admin Report Posted September 7, 2015 Do what I do, sit the wife in it! NOTHING gets past her Sat my mother in law in mine once....................but sort of found myself hoping they'd take her away with it! 2
Luckygti Posted September 10, 2015 Author Report Posted September 10, 2015 Lol, my mother in law is a scouser.......... On another note, I may have just secured a set of twin 40's..... I guess I should start a thread then?
