jxke Posted October 10, 2015 Report Posted October 10, 2015 Just put mine back on steels, hopefully selling the alloys to fund tires for my new wheels
NudgerSS Posted October 10, 2015 Report Posted October 10, 2015 Put mine back on the original skinny steelers 1
Chris standage Posted October 13, 2015 Report Posted October 13, 2015 Yes I'm very much still alive mark haha
Danish Posted October 13, 2015 Report Posted October 13, 2015 The steelies for my Mk3 Cortina - ex-Mondeo 14x6 steels blasted & powder coated...
BaileyMex Posted November 2, 2015 Report Posted November 2, 2015 I remember years back tracking down a set of straight Lotus Steels, having them professionally refurbished and ready to be fitted...Only to find that after blowing all that money on the wheels and refurbing them I couldn't bring myself to ditch the Minilites lol p.s. yes I'm still about lurking
dalmarshall Posted November 2, 2015 Report Posted November 2, 2015 Baileymex, do you still have a 4 speed in the mex? The reason I ask is that I might put 175/50 tyres on my Mex but I wondered how much it'll affect the gearing...especially at 70mph
BaileyMex Posted November 2, 2015 Report Posted November 2, 2015 Yep! still on the 4spd 2000E box And yep! I'm also running 175/50/13's, it DOES affect the drive, it will bring down the top end and mean to keep up with cars at 70mph it WILL rev higher. I've tried different ratio diff's, from a 3:54 which was nice on the motorway but not as nippy off the line, then went for a 4:1 for a while and whilst fun off the lights not much fun at high speeds So back with the original 3:77 which is about right for what I use it for. However, it's a trade off in my book, not as practical as higher walled tyres, but purely from a cosmetic view, I think it looks better, each to their own and all that 1
dalmarshall Posted November 2, 2015 Report Posted November 2, 2015 Cheers, ronals refurbed with 175/50's and coil overs could be this year's winter to do list! 1
NudgerSS Posted November 2, 2015 Report Posted November 2, 2015 I've got 165/55/13 on mine with a 4 speed and 4.1fd. It's revs it's nuts off anywhere above 50mph nut it in't half quick off the line 2
