PeteRS8084 Posted October 10, 2015 Report Posted October 10, 2015 Does a haynes manual not have that information in the technical info section?
mk1del Posted October 10, 2015 Report Posted October 10, 2015 There's a book called sporting escorts, about £20 has all info in back about sorting and dating vin and build plates, very good has all details about specifications on all sporting escorts available for mk2 and mk1
colr6 Posted October 10, 2015 Report Posted October 10, 2015 According to that book for a 1976 car the axle weights are left blank 79 onwards shows 1st box 1325kg-----2nd box2325kg 1st axle 630kg 2nd axle 800kg 1
popmotorsport Posted October 11, 2015 Author Report Posted October 11, 2015 Thanks for info guys , great help thanks Iain
DT36 Posted October 12, 2015 Report Posted October 12, 2015 I have a 1979 MK2 RS that I can give you info from if you need. I would think they are the same. My plate is a bit rough, and actually went to Fords last week to see if I could get a new one made up as I want to rivet a new one on. Unfortunately, they couldn't help. Are you using an original or replica blank plate? Edited: Please see the pic of the chassis plate. There are no weights on mine...
Admin Vista Posted October 12, 2015 Admin Report Posted October 12, 2015 For stamping or supply, try these people http://www.vintagsuk.com/ http://www.vin-plate.co.uk/ford_plates.html or get fleeced for £40 for an unstamped repro one http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FORD-MK1-ESCORT-RS2000-MEXICO-CORTINA-CAPRI-GRANADA-CHASSIS-PLATE-/121781459416?hash=item1c5abd99d8 1
DT36 Posted October 12, 2015 Report Posted October 12, 2015 Top 2 links no longer do vintage tags. Bottom link on ebay is exactly the same as mine. Right, tips on how to get this one past the Missus guys...
Admin Vista Posted October 12, 2015 Admin Report Posted October 12, 2015 Top 2 links no longer do vintage tags. Bottom link on ebay is exactly the same as mine. But they do say "We no longer stock classic tags, but we do have contacts who can procure tags on your behalf, please contact us for details" i'd give them a call and see if one of their contacts can ship direct to them to stamp them. 1
mk1del Posted October 12, 2015 Report Posted October 12, 2015 You can buy vin tags off a site called retro vin plates , then send it to other company to stamp
Danish Posted October 13, 2015 Report Posted October 13, 2015 I used this place - about £40 but the result was very good. http://www.classic-plates.com/ 1
