A serving British member of parliament gunned down in broad daylight in the street :eeek:   my thoughts and prayers go out to her husband and two young children.

What the hell has happened to the Britain I grew up in??

Gutted. Two young children! Killed by a white supremacist I've heard. May he rot in hell :ykt:

RIP Jo, irrelevant of your political views, nobody deserves what you went through today, let alone your poor family for the rest of their lives:-(

Thoughts to the family left behind. Don't think there is punishment fitting to a crime like this. Well not a legal one anyway !

Well bring back hanging ,why should this scumbag still be allowed to live .

Instead of voting to stay in or out of the eu. Let's have a vote for justice

I would like to see capital punishment make a comeback for cold killing scum like this, but ironically what this lady stood for was quite the opposite!

Sorry, can't agree on the capital punishment, state sanctioned murder is still murder. And what, God forbid, if an innocent person is put to death? Miscarriage's of justice still happen.

In your first post you asked "What the hell has happened to the Britain I grew up in??"

Well it got to liberal, soft & PC. From this, the scum emerge as there is no real deterrents for murderers, rapists, peadophiles and the such. There is no reforming these people, so if there is no doubt that they are guilty then they should be executed IMO rather than being left in prison to rot for the rest of their miserable lives funded by the tax payer.

Many of these heinous crimes are premeditated and would certainly even make the most unstable think twice before they committed such an act!

I agree its a touchy subject and one that will divide opinion :)

Miscarriage of justice? When someone is seen by witness and these days most prob on cctv

There is no excuse ,remember lee rigby? If people are bitten by dogs the dogs are destroyed

These people scott are no better than animals and deserve to die when it is 100% clear what they have done.

I am fed up of hearing in the press of all these animals being released after serving so called justice

To carry out other crimes

Never the less, incidences of miscarriage of justice do happen and once the death penalty is back on the books as an option, who is to say it won't be applied unjustly?

Criminals on death row in the US can spend years whilst all their appeal avenues are heard, in those cases it isn't even a particular good cash saving as they still incur costs whilst incarcerated and who do you think will be paying for their defence and appeals process? In many cases I suspect it would be legal aid.

I have never understood the American death row system.

Miscarriages of justice are quite rare in this day and age, with modern forensics, CCTV, witness's etc. So if there is no doubt, then there is no need to keep people with death sentences on death row for years & years, it should happen sooner rather than later so the families of the victims can get some closure to their ordeal. You could also  argue that its  cruel to keep people on death row for years knowing their fate!

How many murderers and rapists have been released over the years to offend again? Some of these are given new identities so no one knows who and where they are now!

But im only talking of a certain criteria of people here, that are caught red handed like the scumbag yesterday. The second he shot and stabbed that poor lady he lost his human rights IMO.

Condolences and thoughts with the poor ladies family.

I agree with most on here, caught red handed, perpetrator deserves to be destroyed. No amount of rehabilitation will ever put the person who did this straight, he will never be fit to return to society - so put him out of his misery and at the same time that ensures he will never be able to kill again.

I think people with a liberal attitude would soon change it if something like this happened to a close family member.

I sometimes wish I had never brought my daughters into this world as right now it is going to shit, and they are far too precious to be associated with the dump this planet is becoming. Scary stuff.

It s costs over  £40,000 a year to keep an individual in prison! So if this scumbag lives for another 30 years, that is going to cost you and I over £1.2 million

And how many like him are sitting in jails costing the same???

On that theory what is the amount these scumbags costing us? Hang the the lot of them. Then I don't think the cost of leaving or staying in the eu would be of any relevance just short change really
