My fisrt time at such an event. Now the proud owner of a Mexico I thought I'd take her along. We drove up Saturday afternoon just after midday. Set up camp and went to the pub. Lovely food. The falcon I think it was called. Went back to camp and met up with a few old lads who where a good laugh.

 

Speaking to regulars the numbers were down on previous years. Some really nice escorts on show. Trade stands were very good too. Weather was nice first thing but clouded over later. We had a very wet drive home.

 

I was a bit sceptical of the show but after meeting some good lads from Taunton we enjoyed and had a good show. It's not all concurs but more of a gathering of the AVO related cars. Also met Neil Fletcher who makes bits and pieces who had many story to tell and sorted me out with a few hard to find bits. Look forward to next year when I might be brave enough to open the bonnet......

Haven't been in a good number of years now, why are all the good shows so far away?

We had a chat about that. It's mainly due to nobody organising them. I tried to organise a tour around Dartmoor once but weather was crap so called it off. Had arranged camping at plume of feathers. Maybe we could take another look. I'm more of a tour fan than a car park show person,

I enjoy both, driving is good, but so too is meeting up and checking out other people's cars. Comparing how other people have done things etc.

 

The run I remember, you were planning it mainly on Turbosport weren't you? If you fancy giving it another go, happy to lend support with publicity etc.

Yep that was the one. Went on the lakes tour 2012 which was cracking. Tour Saturday and show Sunday. Don't the Cornish RS club do something?

Yes they do.......but the RSOC is heavily heavily populated by far newer cars now. Something brought home to me by their gathering at the Duchy Capri Club Show recently. Each to their own but it's not my preference.

Maybe, but as there's only about 15 of them licenced on UK roads, they're still a crowd puller.

Blimey, Ive driven more Twincams than that! I only got mine by chance on the cheap when a friend found it, I had the money set aside to get a van!

There is a big debate on the AVO forum concerning the future of the show. Owners just don't like taking their cars out.
