I would imagine genuine Ford skins would be pretty scarce these days. The Rally Boys dented them long ago.

There will be some somewhere it just finding them there is tons of new parts around its just getting people to part with them

Don't care how much they are.maybe your happy to fudge your car up with pattern parts were I am not.i have already got genuine rs inner wings genuine outer wings genuine front panel genuine slam panel and genuine boot lid and I'm picking up a genuine rear quarter this week so as I say still lots hiding

Its true you do build up a bit of a collection of new parts over the years. I still have a pair of new Ford Twincam guards in boxes in the shed I bought for a rainy day. Same for Mk1 and 2 front aprons tucked behind the freezer. Ten years ago I bough a new Pinto head for 150 quid still in its box for the day I may need one, Im sure that must be hard to come by these days too. A whole heap of other stuff too I have probably forgotten about. However the rare times I have been talked into selling something I have ALWAYS regretted it. So I hang onto it as you never know. You have done well to get so much so far. Skins were never something many would keep as spares though, it was always buy as you needed type thing. They are also very fragile for long term storage. I think your best bet may be set of second-hand original doors. I see them for sale in fairly regular intervals and no more than I think you would ever find new skins for. You can maintain your originality that way.

 

It is a bit of a stretch to call non original panels fudging though. Some pressing are of high quality and accuracy. (Just not Magnum Panels though). I would give anything for a new Mk2 C Pillar panel even a dodgy one from Magnum but no one at all makes them. Expressed Panels told me they have no call for it. Only through the really kind help of a forum member round the other side of the world who is chopping a car up for other things they need will I be able to get something to fit. I have found the quality and workmanship of the fitting seems to be way more important than the quality of the panel itself.

There have been a pair of skins on eBay this year but missed them and their was also a brand new door on there so the parts are around just got to wait and be lucky.as to pattern parts the fitting is more important than the panel itself I agree but would rather genuine if I can hence why I put up the wanted add then get jumped on by the other poster saying I'm dreaming.they will turn up I haven't striped my car yet still using it !

They probably will show up eventually. I find I wait for years and then when something does finally come up for sale I pay through the nose and then just days after a second lot thats much cheaper. It always happens and I think doh I should have waited just 2 more days! LOL

Can't say but I found them and they are Mint no rust or dents so as I said plenty of bits hiding

This is very true and it is stupid but that's what you have to do to get the good stuff. I just want my car to Be the best it can be

I've seen wings for my mk1 Tina go for a figure of 1k + each, afraid I can do a lot of repairs for that !

That is silly money but if it were a mk1 lotus considering what there worth it's not really that expensive.fords were supposed to be for the average joe now you need deep pockets to own maintain and restore them shame really because people are to scared to use them also
