Hi, has anyone done this? And is it simple in theory?

As I have a 1600 crossflow to get me started, but planning to upgrade it after I've ran it for a short while... I know people like to 1700 and buy all the expensive carbs and internals... But is it possible to injection these and get some more power?

Thanks in advance

You don't necessarily get more power with fuel injection but you do get better delivery, smoother running and improved efficiency. It can be done quite easily with throttle bodies but isn't a cheap exercise.

I've got a set of bike throttle bodies for a Pinto project, that was the cheap bit, ECU and setup are proving to be the biggest cost although if your handy Megasquirt and Autotune software are supposed to be the cheapest way.

I'm still looking at £800 without rolling road though

4 bike carbs on a manifold can be cheap enough and I do have a set of bike carbs in the workshop with 32mm diameter barrels if your interested

I had twin 40 DCOE's on my Crossflow which convinced me to have me to fit Throttle body's on the 2.1 Pinto, YB, and now on my 2.9 Cologne! no coughing, spluttering and cutting out when hot, easy starting and fuel economy, not retro but I can live with that!

This topic brings back a few memories, think it is was back in 81/2 when I injected a crossflow using T&J tecalamet fuel injection system a long with 1600 crossflow flat head flat Pistons with spacer plate A8 full race cam fully ported all steel. What a rocket ship that was in the back of a Hillman imp. No fancy brains good old mechanical gear. Only draw back they caught fire a lot !! How things have changed, you need a lap top now to set them up in my day it was your ears and an emissions meter to get them somewhere near. Had no money left for rolling road sessions

On all my set ups I used Jenvy Throttle body's, electric fuel pump with a swirl pot fitted in the fuel tank (could be external), Teflon braided fuel lines and an engine management system, I use DTA but there is a good choice of other units, a rolling road session would be needed to set it all up after fitting....
