berry Posted February 2, 2017 Report Posted February 2, 2017 Hi want your opinion guys on this.im looking at getting a rollcage for my v8 capri to stiffen the shell. It'll be weekend road use with occasional drag strip use.now do I go full cage or half cage.im having bucket seats too What you think?
aardvark101 Posted February 2, 2017 Report Posted February 2, 2017 Should you just so happen to find yourself upside down in a ditch on a quiet Sunday morning, do you really want to be thinking to yourself, mmm should have gone for the full cage
John escort mk1V6 Posted February 2, 2017 Report Posted February 2, 2017 I wil say go for a full cage [from innerwings/legs to the rear tubs] , better in a crash but for stiffnes also , don`t forget the heavy V8 and power.
Admin Vista Posted February 2, 2017 Admin Report Posted February 2, 2017 I wil say go for a full cage , better in a crash but for stiffnes also , don`t forget the heavy V8 and power. If it's a Rover V8, I don't think there's that much weight difference between it and a Pinto. Alloy vs Cast Iron
berry Posted February 2, 2017 Author Report Posted February 2, 2017 You make a good point aardvark lol Escort mk1v6....I've seen the one that's on safety devices website and GSM performance website both cages look the same though so unsure if they get them from same manufacturer. Has anyone had a cage from these places?? Vista.....it's a sbc 385 with ally heads.its not as heavy as a standard small block but even ally heads weigh some. So on guess my next question is...is anyone running a full cage on the street?
ianbavs Posted February 3, 2017 Report Posted February 3, 2017 Yep makes sense Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
JP. Posted February 3, 2017 Report Posted February 3, 2017 Full cage, from experience. Not for you but firstly to keep your Capri toghether.. Gives you much better road handling too.
aardvark101 Posted February 3, 2017 Report Posted February 3, 2017 Full cage for me...have you seen my driving With all that grunt i would want the shell stiff as possible especially if you get into doing a lot of hard launches. Looks the part as well
colr6 Posted February 3, 2017 Report Posted February 3, 2017 If you do go for a full cage don't forget to add mounts on A and B posts, door bars are a good thing for extra rigidity but can be a nuisance if you can have removable door bars that's a bonus. Just add them in when you want to go silly.
brettp Posted February 3, 2017 Report Posted February 3, 2017 I went with a full cage but where I switched to a corsa pas column(well worth the Agro) and x door bars it's a mission getting in and out I've ordered a new tilt steering boss that should help are you 4linking it ?
berry Posted February 4, 2017 Author Report Posted February 4, 2017 Thanks for replys guys.....6 point cage it is then.... ones at gsm seem to have a option drop downs for things like removable door bars also found a place in Poland that dose full cage kits 1
