It will get to a point were all 'oldskool' fords will go into hiding as a) they are worth too much to take out and 2) they get stolen.

What 80's fords are there? Capris, mk2 escorts they are in but granadas and Sierras out?

Hmmmm, been a while since this old chestnut came up.

Mk2 Escort, Mk3 Capri, Mk1 Fiesta, Mk5 Cortina and Mk2 Granada all good. As are transits of appropriate age.

I'm only championing the sierra as I used to have one and hope to have it back soon. Need somewhere to keep it.

It was discussed extensively and voted on by members a few years ago (link below). The matter is effectively therefore closed, to vote again risks us seeming like that irritating Scottish doris and her insistence on neverendums till she gets the result she wants.

but members only had pre 80's cars a few years ago....... just think that the forum will die out with social media clubs catering for what the public want. Got a problem now with filling shows with cars that don't get driven anymore. Think maybe a pre 85 rule. But your the chief.

I've got a car from the 70's mk1 escort, 80's mk2 escort estate and 90's mk3 fez ( hope to be sierra soon ). AVO club is slowly dieing as they can't include any other model of car. There national day was the lowest recorded ( don't quote me on that ) last year.

Move with the times or get left behind.

P.s. Only a bit of friendly banter x

Don't think it will die out quite yet, still plenty proper OSF left - just got to try and get as many as poss to join in here.

That said, I did join and then not come back for several years - sometimes circumstances move you away from places.

Hopefully here to stay now for a few more years anyway..

Like vista said we have voted on this before. As far as im aware there is not another forum/club that carters for so many models of a certain era. That why the osf is still strong. We are renouned for well pesented cars at shows, and some times winning awards for this. Its not a fact of them and us. I appreciate nearly anything with a blue oval on the front. But they all have their place, and this is ours!

Don't forget it was cosworth who designed the 'red top' .......can't remember who designed the zetec,...was a toss up between Hotpoint or Creda ....lol

but fancy having to take a car to shows on a trailer because the head gaskets wont do return trips!

well it could be either as they both know how water should be controlled and contained

daft question but what fancy grade of aluminium are vauxhall sumps made of to stop the anti freeze corroding through them?

just do a ban on all cars with plastic bumpers and plastic bumper corners simple then!!

That's a bit harsh on Mk5 Cortinas!

Move with the times or get left behind.

Similar was said on the 2013 voting thread. Does it cater for a niche, or take a share of a larger broad market? Planet Rock radio for example - in the pre-buy out days they played a lot of Floyd and Zeppelin and were a proper rock station. Now I hear them playing all sorts of frankly pop music. No doubt listener numbers are up, but at the expense of their rock output.

I am conflicted (on many subjects) I have a Lotus 7 replica that has all Sierra running gear.

In my defence I bought the kit and the remnants of the Sierra as an unstarted project and in further mitigation (for this forum) the Sierra donor was a scrapyard purchase with scrappage reciept.

However I pose another question on old skool Ford acceptability criteria... does an ST or RS become acceptable earlier than the standard offering?

If so when does my Fiesta ST150 become acceptable??

So no plastic bumpers but quite happy to run your OSF's with modern engines with various sensors/ECU's etc.

Is it a little bending of your own rules?

Should you all run carbs only?

Surely plastic bumpers and ECU's are part of the same thing?

Anyway, im outta here :nerner:

Post Script: Don't take it personally.

Wow, even your 'RS' cheers has the wrong era RS script!!!!!

I shouldn't worry. I broke one Sierra for the engine alone. The next one I was more efficient - I kept the engine and gearbox, a friend got the two axles for a kit car, and another friend got everything that was left to rebuild an XR4x4.
