rear axle issues

i was using my escort the other week and there was a loud clunking sound coming from the rear. i had a look but could not identify anything wrong sound like its from the axle so i removed the prop, diff and driveshaft but cant see anything obvious.

the noise only starts at about 30 mph.

 

could anyone recommend someone in the Romford, Dagenham area that they would trust to take a look at it.

 

  any suggestions as to what could be making the noise

Do you have a plate type LSD fitted?

yeah plate type LSD.

i would just like someone who knows what there talking about to have a look at it and tell me if there is an issue or if the problem is some where else

Clunking worse as it turns corners? This is normal for a plate type LSD, you'll find a few threads about it on here

I have a 3J plated diff, low speed maneuvering, reverse etc ......Clunk Bang Squawk

My rebuilt gripper is the same, it's when you start thinking......did I tighten the prop ?????

Is yr car the light blue RS by any chance ? Only ones I know are in Chelmsford or Kent that I've used. I can give u there numbers if yr interested
