East kent trim there pooh?
Rick Posted February 27, 2007 Report Posted February 27, 2007 i cant believe anyone pays that kinda money for trim.... unless you have the ultimate concourse car but even then you could argue its not concourse cuz its used aftermarket trim make your own trim thats what i say! piece of piss
105Nick Posted February 27, 2007 Report Posted February 27, 2007 Mate, its not what they advertise that thyre selling you, I spent £130 on front & rear screen, boot rubber, door rubbers and some window brushes for my Anglia and what they sent me was a load of standard rubbers from a roll, none of which fitted anywhere near the way that the originals did - the boot rubber on an anglia is like a large square with an oval shaped aperature in the middle, to keep out the water from under the boot lid and likewise the door rubbers are shaped to fit the on door. What they gave me was a roll of rubber strips that could have been from any modern car and fited to thye door aperature instead, but weasn't shaped so it would have left water sitting in all the gaps and rotted my car out. The door window brushed were longer than the actual doors and thicker than the slots they are meant to go in, so even if I cut them they wouldn't have fitted. Even more confusing was that there were no instructions on fitting them. When I called him to ask how they are supposed to be fixed he said I should have asked for a tub of adhesive, which when I called to pay he didn't mention and when questioned about the brushes he askerd me if I'd asked to purchese the clips to fit them, which wasn't advertised or mentioned, despite the fact that if the brushes too thick then extra clips wouldn't fit in place, unless I hacked the inner frame of my door! When questioned that they weren't as advertised and that it would make a mess of my restoration he shrugged it off and asked about adhesive he told me to go and buy some super glue from B&Q. As it was I was not happy and returned all the items except the windscreen & rear screen rubber which did fit and were desperate for, although I had to return to Autoglass twice before it stopped leaking. The rest I wrote a letter with asking him to refund me my £70 outstanding for the parts he sold me under false pretences and posted them by recorded delivery so there is no way they did not get to him. That was about nine months ago and I didn't get a reply. Grade A Cu*t.
RUSTYPUP Posted February 27, 2007 Report Posted February 27, 2007 Definately a robber! My stuff didn't fit too well and was nothing like the originals. Not sure where else to go though
Alan G Posted February 27, 2007 Report Posted February 27, 2007 So would you all recommend for a windscreen rubber - mk1 escort
105Nick Posted February 27, 2007 Report Posted February 27, 2007 My windscreen rubber did fit, however he is in breach of trade descriptions and I've had a lot of similar people saying the same things. That when I questioned about all those litttle bits he'd forgot to mention he told me to go to B&Q and just shrugged off the rest when it clearly wasnt what was advertised just takes the piss and that i posted it all back to him registered post and with a letter, he didnt refund me, this guy just should not be in bussiness cos he's not selling what he says and fooks off once he's got your money. I'm not sure where else to get Mk1 stuff, I joined the 105E owners club straight after that and wish I had before, if I ever come across him at a show again he'd fookin well know it.
Mrp Posted February 27, 2007 Report Posted February 27, 2007 This is not a one off, I enqired about his stuff on 105Speed.com fourum and there must have been a dozen angry people with simalar storys to tell. Well need to set up a OSF Rogue traders!!
flyingbanana Posted February 27, 2007 Report Posted February 27, 2007 well i never expected this to go a pete tong..................but yes their door rubbers are crap...way to big and still let water in....and expensive for a bit of rubber....and you have to cut and join your self
Rick Posted February 27, 2007 Report Posted February 27, 2007 i got all my rubbers off ebay and theyre perfect! as for trim try aldridge trimming, my dads company orders from them, quite expensive but supposed to be good
sab6024 Posted February 27, 2007 Report Posted February 27, 2007 We used East Kent once. My ex was rebuilding his 1959 Pop and wanted new window rubbers. The rubbers in it were original. The new ones lasted about a year. They perished terribly. He complained and they did nothing about it. I wouldn't bother again.
antz Posted February 27, 2007 Report Posted February 27, 2007 i bought chrome gutter trim from them for my escort. never did fit right so ive got one badged on and the other is a very maky original. might just pull the bloody thigns off
ZetecVan 2.0 Posted February 27, 2007 Report Posted February 27, 2007 I was working in Kent one day so I popped in. He's converted his extension/garage to be the shop/store room. I too got door seals and a rear window seal which were on a roll (for my prefect). The fit was a bit pants, and I couldn't close the passenger door without serious adjustment. The rear window seal had to be cut to size (I guess most of them are) and the fit wasn't too bad. I asked him about the clips and he said they were unobtainable so go to b&q and get some glue.
Rick Posted February 27, 2007 Report Posted February 27, 2007 he said they were unobtainable im sure theyre always on ebay???
RUSTYPUP Posted February 27, 2007 Report Posted February 27, 2007 Forgot to mention, my windscreen rubbers have cracked really bad around the corners. They looked good for about 3 months!
johnny_h Posted February 27, 2007 Report Posted February 27, 2007 I've only ever heard bad things about EKT. Someone on the AVO owners site bought a fitted carpet for his Escort and said it was crap.
flyingbanana Posted February 27, 2007 Report Posted February 27, 2007 I've only ever heard bad things about EKT. Someone on the AVO owners site bought a fitted carpet for his Escort and said it was crap. i brought my carpet from there and it comes in 2 peices....which i thought was rather odd, considering it could be made has one peice
Daggle Posted February 27, 2007 Report Posted February 27, 2007 Well I was going to get some bits from there, but Im glad I have read all this, maybe it should be forwarded onto the Co Director of EKT.
bashmk1 Posted February 27, 2007 Author Report Posted February 27, 2007 blimey fair enough people. thanks for all the advise. anywhere else you recommend?
crapichris Posted February 27, 2007 Report Posted February 27, 2007 Forgot to mention, my windscreen rubbers have cracked really bad around the corners. They looked good for about 3 months! Likewise, bought a windscreen rubber for the MK1 Capri from EKT and had it fitted by professional windscreen fitter. He spent over 2 hours fitting the screen and commented the rubber was cr*p and too small. He said it wouldn't last a year - he was wrong, it lasted 18months. Now I have wet carpets when it's really pours. EKT say it was the fitter , the fitter sayus it was EKT. Any ideas for a good screen rubber for a MK1 Capri?
louie bagel Posted February 27, 2007 Report Posted February 27, 2007 i got my windscreen rubbers for the front rear and rear side windows, carpet and chrome gutter and screen rubber trim, front screen leeks when it rains hard, carpet was a tw@t to fit, looks poor and every time i brush is i seem to be left with and hand full a fluff and the gutter trim looks naff. i put alot down to the fitting and not being able to find alternatives, and untill i read everyone else's post i was gonna order all the rubbers avalible for the doors, boot rubber and a full rubber set for a 100e, but now i won't any other sujestions?
johnnysomersett Posted February 27, 2007 Report Posted February 27, 2007 i had a rear windscreen rubber for my consul....was 2 inches too short pants
LEONMEX Posted February 27, 2007 Report Posted February 27, 2007 Got all the rubbers for my mk1 from there & the boot sits to high due to the cr*p rubbers & the rear quarter rubbers have split & look an ar*e,dont bother getting anything from these COWBOYS.
