ekjim Posted June 15, 2017 Report Posted June 15, 2017 Could anyone help me with a part number ive got an Escort quick rack and I think it may be mk1 , Its got Capri 2.8 front struts . I have a Hi Drive box with part number RE 0503 does this look right ?
colr6 Posted June 15, 2017 Report Posted June 15, 2017 Difference between the mk1 rack and mk2 rack is the thread where the TRE fits ....mk1 fine thread UNF....mk2 course thread METRIC.
John escort mk1V6 Posted June 15, 2017 Report Posted June 15, 2017 If it`s a mk1 rack than the tranks ends fit on the capri struts and when it`s a mk2 rack than you will need the rack ends from a mk2 RS000 these have also a small pin i don`t the right name for it.
ekjim Posted June 15, 2017 Author Report Posted June 15, 2017 Thanks for quick replys Col & Escort mk1v6 that's what I thought the one I have in the box is fine thread so I think its right , let you know tomorrow . 1

ekjim Posted June 17, 2017 Author Report Posted June 17, 2017 That one fitted its a fine thread so all good , just need to take along to the local parts place to get a spare .
John escort mk1V6 Posted June 17, 2017 Report Posted June 17, 2017 This a foto from mine mk2 estate , mk2 short steeringbox with the mk2 RS2000 rod ends and with the Capri legs.
colr6 Posted June 17, 2017 Report Posted June 17, 2017 This a foto from mine mk2 estate , mk2 short steeringbox with the mk2 RS2000 rod ends and with the Capri legs. Where did your anti- roll bar and drop links come from ?
John escort mk1V6 Posted June 17, 2017 Report Posted June 17, 2017 I believe that i bought the droplinks may be at burtonpower /anti-roll bars at gpr4 fab or at rally design i did extend them to make it fit. But the are to weak for mine taste , they are normal used with very hard coil-over and special shock absorbers , so i have made a other anti-roll bar with parts from rally design from a race siërra [8g bar]and make the bar shorter and bend the arms that going to the drop links , i have weld this together instead of bolting , much better. I have this done for mine mk1V6 and for mine estate. 1
colr6 Posted June 17, 2017 Report Posted June 17, 2017 Many thanks, will do some research on bars and links from there. Cheers Col 1
John escort mk1V6 Posted June 17, 2017 Report Posted June 17, 2017 With this type of anti-roll bar it must be done in combination with a compresion kit to keep it safe.
katana Posted June 17, 2017 Report Posted June 17, 2017 But the are to weak for mine taste , they are normal used with very hard coil-over and special shock absorbers , I wonder why you consider them too weak? They aren't a structural suspension component and aren't carrying any direct suspension loads. You have the substantial compression struts, modified TCA's and beefy struts, so hub is well triangulated - the links will be transmitting very little force and in compression generally and so will be using steel's strongest medium? 1

I took as an implication that the anti- roll bar resistance not been strong enough as against actual strenght of the bar in mounting purposes. 1
John escort mk1V6 Posted June 17, 2017 Report Posted June 17, 2017 What i meant is the body roll it`s got with the thin anti-rollbar , i want a go-kart feeling and not a old Citroen feeling. I drove a little bit with anti-rollbar and i didn`t like it so i did place the old 22mm Capri one that did make fit before and started to order and build this one and i like this one better. I understand that a soft/weak anti-rollbar gives more road contact and i think thats more a rally car feeling and i want more a race car feeling.
