had a flick through in tesco and saw the stunning mk1 escort, with a sorted 2.3 pinto. bought mag and was a bit dissapointed with the little mention about the engine side of things. then read the mk1 fiesta with 1100 xf screamer, same again not a great deal about the engine side of things. same writer. come on lads put a bit more in about the engines especially when when theres about 10 grands worth of pinto under the bonnet.

Im with you RWL81P. Need more info about all the cars. Write up is nearly always the same albeit with a few details changed....and has been for as long as I've been reading it....8years!!! Wont be renewing my order after xmas

i used to buy both classic ford and retro ford every month. but about 10yrs back things started changing with both mags, obviously fashions change eg 7x13s replaced by 7x15s, pintos and XFs replaced by redtops, zetecs and duratecs even s2000 engines. so i stopped buying both and just bought whichever had things in that i like, nice old cars with no bling bling! much like harris cars. but ive noticed for a while that the write ups aren't what they used to be either. but its not everyday that an escort with a pinto and a finish like that comes along, even if it does have big wheels.

cheers for taking the time to read it Simon, as much as i like modified old old fords, it would be nice to see original cars such as mk1 twincams, rs1600s mexicos, mk2 harriers, rs1800, mexicos. fiesta supersports. nice to see original models. cheers phill

I have bought CF occasionally for something to look at and read ,there are some very nice cars and a lot of hard work has gone into them and I appreciate all that but correct me if I am wrong but as the title suggests I thought it would have been all about classic Fords maintain and restore ?, not modded (red tops etc ) , surely that's what retro ford or kit car magazines are for ? Sorry don't want to offend anyone ,

Can see both your points, but don't think there are enough 'original ' cars to do month after month of publications. Suppose it's like the supposed Classic for show is getting no more due to the year change. Nothing I like more than a very well put together original car where attention to detail makes or breaks a car, but as the NOS parts dry up its getting harder and harder to produce cars of that nature.

they dont have to feature original cars every month, would be nice to see at least half a dozen a year. even if theyre the sleeper type. look original to the eye but tuned up engines. as all the saarf landon cars they used to feature. dont even have to be nos parts, theres really good after market copys these days that look great.

We do feature original cars every issue. The Heritage features are always on restored, standard cars plus there's the buyer's guide.

yeah i do see original cars in there, and great buying guides. i was thinking more along the lines of the rarer sportier models and limited editions, 28i granny sports, 20s and 30s capris, lotus cortinas. things like that. i know you try and fill the mag with good stuff and try and cater for everybody as we all like different stuff. just that there is some really good rarer things out there. and im not saying i dont enjoy the mag, you do put some great cars in there. but a little more on the engines when you get the tuned up street racing things. cheers simon.
